The Halo Touch is a Wi-Fi fingerprint deadbolt that skips the hub. It connects straight to the customer's router, so there is no bridge to mount, pair or explain, and the lock is managed from the Kwikset app once the install is done.
Why it fits the job
This is a traditional deadbolt with SmartKey Security, so you can re-key it yourself in seconds on site, and it carries ANSI/BHMA Grade AAA. It fits doors from 1-3/4 to 2 inches thick with a 2-1/8 inch cross bore and an adjustable latch backset, and it installs with a screwdriver.
Key features
- Fingerprint entry: enroll up to 100 fingerprints, which Kwikset lists as 50 users
- No hub: connects directly to home Wi-Fi, with remote management and event history in the Kwikset app
- Managed from the phone: create, disable and delete fingerprints, and set schedules for customized access
- Voice control: works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant with no hub required
- Re-keyable: SmartKey Security protects against advanced break-in techniques and lets you re-key the lock yourself
- Batteries included: runs on four AA batteries
How to sell it
Lead with the missing hub: the customer connects the lock to the Wi-Fi they already have, and there is no extra device to buy. Then talk about keys. Each person enrolls a fingerprint, and access ends with a tap in the app when it should. Kwikset lists the Halo Touch as not UL fire rated, so check the door's requirements before you quote it for a rated opening.
System requirements
A Wi-Fi router, an internet connection for remote access, and a smartphone with the Kwikset app. No hub is required.
