SKU:
KD-KC2-H

The KC2-H is Kidde's conventional two-wire heat detector head, built for mechanical rooms, kitchens, and other spaces where smoke detection isn't appropriate but you still need reliable fire detection on the same conventional zone wiring as the rest of the loop.

Why installers reach for it

  • Dual detection method: combines a 135F fixed-temperature threshold with rate-of-rise compensation, so it catches both slow heat buildup and fast flaming fires.
  • Self-diagnostic: continuously monitors its own operational status and reports trouble conditions automatically.
  • Tri-color status LED: solid red for alarm, flashing yellow for trouble, flashing green for standby.
  • Head-and-base design: the detector head is field-replaceable without disturbing the base wiring.

Panel compatibility

The KC2-H is compatible with Kidde FX5 and FX10 conventional panels, GSA-UM/MAB signature modules, and RZI16-2/RZI16-2RS zone interfaces. It carries the S10A two-wire compatibility identifier that panels use to confirm proper supervision.

Does the KC2-H come with a base?
No. The KC2-H is a head-only detector. Pair it with a KC2-SB standard base or a KC2-RB relay base, both sold separately.
Why use a heat detector instead of smoke?
Heat-only detection is the right call in spaces prone to steam, cooking smoke, or dust - kitchens, mechanical rooms, and similar areas - where a smoke detector would nuisance-alarm.
What does the rate-of-rise function add?
Rate-of-rise compensation triggers an alarm on a fast temperature climb above 105F even before the fixed 135F threshold is reached, catching flaming fires earlier than a fixed-only sensor.
What panels can I use this detector on?
FX5 and FX10 conventional fire alarm control panels, GSA-UM/GSA-MAB signature class A-B modules, and RZI16-2/RZI16-2RS zone interfaces.
