SKU:
KD-439DEX-10AW

The 439DEX-10AW is a 10-inch (254 mm) explosionproof vibrating fire alarm bell for hazardous classified locations, diode polarized and operating on 20 to 24 VDC in a gray finish. It produces 89 dB at 10 feet.

Built for the commercial fire installer

Classified areas rule out ordinary notification appliances. This bell's integral explosionproof housing is built to contain an internal ignition rather than merely resist the environment, which is what UL listing for Class I Groups B, C and D, Class II Groups E, F and G, and Class III in Divisions 1 and 2 actually requires.

Diode polarization keeps the notification circuit supervised, and low current draw at 0.24 A means long wire runs stay within voltage drop limits, which matters in the sprawling process areas these get installed in. The housing is mechanically terminated for a standard 3/4-inch NPT nipple, and it mounts to any solid surface with two 3/8-inch bolts using the supplied brackets, or directly to rigid conduit. It ships completely assembled.

Key features

  • Explosionproof housing UL-listed for Class I, II and III locations in Divisions 1 and 2
  • 10-inch (254 mm) gong producing 89 dB at 10 ft
  • Diode polarized so the notification appliance circuit stays supervised
  • Low current draw at 0.24 A for efficient operation over long wire runs
  • Ships completely assembled with mounting brackets included
  • Gray finish

System requirements

Wires to a 24 VDC notification appliance circuit on a compatible fire alarm control panel; observe polarity, since the bell is diode polarized. Confirm the area classification against the listed groups and divisions before specifying. Requires a 3/4-inch - 14 NPT nipple. Rated for indoor use. Other gong sizes are available: 6-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch, each in gray or red.

What hazardous locations is the 439DEX-10AW rated for?
UL listed for Class I Groups B, C and D, Class II Groups E, F and G, and Class III hazardous locations, in Divisions 1 and 2. Confirm the area classification on your job matches before specifying.
Does polarity matter when wiring this bell?
Yes. The bell is diode polarized, which is what allows the notification appliance circuit to remain supervised. Reversed polarity will prevent correct operation.
What gong sizes are available in this series?
Three: 6-inch (83 dB), 8-inch (86 dB) and 10-inch (89 dB), each available in gray or red. Choose the size from the sound pressure level the coverage calculation requires.
How is the bell mounted?
To any solid surface using two 3/8 inch (10 mm) bolts with the supplied mounting brackets, or directly to rigid conduit. The housing is mechanically terminated to accept a standard 3/4 inch - 14 NPT nipple.
Can this be installed outdoors?
No. The 439DEX series bells are rated for indoor installation.
