The VM-NOCF Fiber Network Option Module gives a VM-1 fire alarm control panel a fiber optic path for network data and digital audio riser communication, or a combined fiber optic and RS-485 path, without leaning on copper-only distance limits between head ends.
Built for the commercial fire installer
Installs directly on the VM-CPU main board inside the VM-1 cabinet and pairs with SMXLO2, SMXHI2, or MMXVR fiber transceivers depending on run length - single-mode fiber reaches up to 24.85 miles node-to-node, multi-mode up to 8,000 feet. Class B, Class A, or Class X wiring configurations are all supported, so the network topology can match the site's redundancy requirements.
Key features
- Fiber optic network path: carries network data and digital audio riser between VM-1 panels over single-mode or multi-mode fiber
- Combination fiber/RS-485 option: pairs fiber backbone runs with RS-485 segments on the same network
- Long-haul reach: up to 24.85 miles node-to-node with SMXHI2 single-mode transceivers
- Flexible wiring styles: Class B, Class A, or Class X supported
- Direct board mount: installs on the VM-CPU main board, no separate enclosure required
System requirements
Requires a VM-1 control panel with VM-CPU main board and a compatible fiber optic transceiver (SMXLO2, SMXHI2, or MMXVR) ordered separately based on run distance and fiber type.
