SKU:
KD-GCHFWA-S2VMA

The Genesis GCHFWA-S2VMA is a high fidelity ceiling-mount speaker-strobe built for mass notification in commercial sleeping areas - hotels, dormitories, assisted living, and any occupancy where NFPA 72 demands 520 Hz low-frequency signaling at the pillow. The amber-lens strobe and red ALERT marking differentiate mass notification alerts from life safety fire signals at a glance.

Built for the commercial installer

Field-selectable candela (13, 26, 65, or 82 cd) and wattage taps (1/4, 1/2, 1, or 2 watt on 25 VRMS) mean one SKU covers a range of coverage requirements without pulling the device off the box. Switches stay visible through front-panel windows after installation, so inspectors can verify settings without opening the unit. Mounts to any standard 4-inch square electrical box, 2-1/8" deep - no extension ring or trim plate needed.

Key features

  • 520 Hz high fidelity output: meets NFPA requirements for newly constructed commercial sleeping areas with clear, intelligible voice audio across 400-4,000 Hz
  • Field-selectable strobe and speaker: 13/26/65/82 cd amber strobe and 1/4 to 2 watt speaker taps adjustable on site without removing the device
  • ALERT marking with amber lens: distinguishes mass notification signals from life safety FIRE signals per facility emergency communication plans
  • Low-profile ceiling design: just 1.0" deep and 6.8" diameter with no visible mounting screws after installation
  • UL/ULC listed: UL 464 (low frequency), UL 1638, UL 1971, UL 1480 Fifth Edition, ULC-S541, MEA and CSFM approved, ADA compliant
  • Standard 4" box mounting: fits flush on 4-inch square boxes or 960A-4RF round flush boxes, accepts #18 to #12 AWG wire

System requirements

Requires a listed fire alarm control panel or mass notification system with 25 VRMS speaker output and 16-33 VDC (or 16-33 VFWR) strobe power. Strobe synchronization requires a compatible source such as the GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, or EG1M-RM. Indoor use only.

Does this meet NFPA 72 requirements for sleeping areas?
Yes. This 520 Hz High Fidelity model meets NFPA requirements for newly constructed commercial sleeping areas when paired with approved audio hardware and a factory 520 Hz tone. Third-party audio systems are not UL approved for sleeping rooms.
What is the difference between ALERT and FIRE marking?
ALERT-marked devices are for mass notification. FIRE-marked devices are for life safety fire alarm. Different markings let occupants distinguish signal types as required by facility emergency communication plans.
Can I adjust the candela and wattage after installation?
Yes. The Genesis speaker-strobe hinges open to expose the candela and wattage selection switches. Settings are also visible through small windows on the front panel, so inspectors can verify without opening the unit.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Any standard North American 4-inch square electrical box, 2-1/8" (54 mm) deep, or a 960A-4RF round flush box. No extension ring or trim plate required.
What synchronization sources are compatible?
Compatible: GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, GSA-MCC2A, EG1M-RM, MIRBPS6A, MIRBPS10A, APS6A, APS10A, VS Series, Fireshield Plus. Required when multiple strobes are visible in a single field of view.
Is this rated for outdoor use?
No. The Genesis GC Series ceiling speaker-strobes are listed for indoor use only. For outdoor mass notification applications, see the Genesis Outdoor series.
