The Omada EAP650 is an AX3000 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point for offices, retail and multi-tenant jobs where one AP has to carry a lot of phones, laptops and cameras at once. It runs off a single 802.3at PoE+ drop, ships with the ceiling, wall, junction box and T-bar mounting kits in the box, and adopts into the customer's Omada site from the controller or the Omada app.

Built for the network installer

Wi-Fi 6 with OFDMA and MU-MIMO serves 250+ concurrent clients, with up to 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz (160 MHz channels) and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Power it from an 802.3at PoE+ switch, 48V passive PoE or the included 12V DC adapter, so it still goes up on jobs where the switch is not PoE yet. Once adopted, the Omada controller handles channel assignment, transmit power, seamless roaming and mesh, so a multi-AP site does not need hand tuning AP by AP.

Key features

  • AX3000 dual-band Wi-Fi 6: 160 MHz channels on 5 GHz, OFDMA, MU-MIMO and 1024-QAM for dense client loads
  • Three ways to power it: 802.3at PoE+, 48V passive PoE or the 12V DC adapter in the box
  • Mounting kits included: ceiling, wall, junction box and T-bar, no extra bracket to order
  • Zero-touch provisioning: pre-stage the site in the Omada Cloud-Based Controller and the AP configures itself when it powers up
  • Up to 16 SSIDs with WPA3: separate staff, guest and IoT networks, VLAN-mapped, with captive portal through the controller
  • Bluetooth 5.2 on board alongside the Wi-Fi radios

System requirements

Seamless roaming, mesh, captive portal and zero-touch provisioning require an Omada controller: the Omada Cloud-Based Controller, an Omada hardware controller or the Omada Software Controller. The AP also manages from the Omada app. Wi-Fi 6 features depend on the client devices supporting them.

FAQs

Does the EAP650 need a PoE switch?
No. It powers from an 802.3at PoE+ switch or injector, 48V passive PoE, or the 12V/1.5A DC adapter included in the box.
Do I need an Omada controller to run the EAP650?
It can run standalone, but seamless roaming, Omada Mesh, captive portal and zero-touch provisioning require an Omada Cloud-Based, hardware or Software Controller.
How many devices can one EAP650 handle?
TP-Link rates it for 250+ concurrent clients. Real capacity depends on the RF environment and client traffic.
What mounting hardware comes with it?
Ceiling, wall, junction box and T-bar mounting kits are all included.
Does it support 160 MHz channels?
Yes, on 5 GHz. The clients must also support 160 MHz, and the channel width may be limited by local regulations.
