Pull an old doorbell off a wall and you find screw holes, silicone, and a rectangle of paint that has not seen sun in a decade. The new doorbell is narrower than the old one, so none of it gets covered. This plate goes on first and hides all of it.
Built for the installer
It is sized at roughly 13.8 by 8.7 cm, wide enough to cover the footprint of a SkyBell HD, which is the unit most commonly being replaced. That turns a callback about a patchy wall into a finished-looking install on the first visit, with no filler, no touch-up paint and no waiting for it to dry.
Wall screws and anchors are included, the same type supplied with the doorbell. Screws can pass through either the mounting bracket and the outer holes, or the back plate and the inner holes, so it suits either mounting approach.
