DoorProtect Jeweller Wireless Opening Detector with Reed Switch, Black

SKU AJ-42797

  • Fast shipping from four branches
  • 30-day returns on unopened products

A reed-switch opening detector for doors, windows and skylights, running up to seven years on the battery it ships with. The reed switch is British-made and rated past two million openings, which on a door that gets used forty times a day is the difference between a detector that lasts and one you revisit.

Built for the installer

Two magnets come in the box, a big one and a small one. The small magnet works up to 0.4 inches from the detector and the big one up to 0.8 inches, which covers narrow uPVC frames as well as deep timber reveals without hunting for a spacer. Fit one or the other, never both, and put it to the right of the detector as the arrow on the enclosure shows.

Contact chatter protection ignores vibration lasting under 0.15 seconds, so a door rattling in a draught does not generate an alarm. There is also a terminal input for a third-party wired detector with an NC contact, which lets one wireless point cover a hardwired device that would otherwise need its own transmitter.

Key features

  • Up to 7 years on the pre-installed CR123A, so it is not a service item in any normal cycle
  • Two magnet sizes included covering narrow frames and deep reveals without shimming
  • Contact chatter protection ignores vibration under 0.15 s, which stops draught rattle alarms
  • NC terminal input to bring a third-party wired detector onto the system through this device
  • Chime function sounds the siren on opening while the system is disarmed

System requirements

Requires an Ajax hub or range extender. Indoor use only. Do not fit both magnets at once, and mount the magnet to the right of the detector.

FAQs

Can both magnets be used at the same time?
No. The detector recognises only one magnet, on one side. Fit the big magnet or the small one, to the right of the detector as marked by the arrow on the enclosure.
Will a rattling door cause false alarms?
No. The detector ignores vibration lasting up to 0.15 seconds, which covers draught rattle and normal building movement.
Can a wired contact be brought onto the system through this detector?
Yes. There are terminals for a third-party wired detector with a normally closed (NC) contact type, so one wireless point can carry a hardwired device.
Does this device need an Ajax hub?
Yes. All Jeweller devices report to an Ajax hub or a range extender. The device cannot operate standalone and does not connect to a third-party panel directly.
What does the 9NA region code mean?
It is the North America model, operating on the 905.0-926.5 MHz Jeweller band certified to UL/ULC standards. European models on 868 MHz are not interchangeable with it.
How quickly is a lost device detected?
Within 36 seconds. Jeweller polls each device continuously, so a jammed, removed or failed device is reported rather than quietly going offline.
