ADC-VC8498P

The Alarm.com Prism Series 8MP Fixed PoE Dome (ADC-VC8498P) gives installers an 8 megapixel fixed dome that holds color performance after dark and ties straight into the Alarm.com for Business platform. One PoE drop, one mount, the same configuration workflow you're already running on every other Alarm.com camera.

Built for the commercial installer

VividNight low-light technology produces full-color footage in scenes where most cameras flip to monochrome. Built-in IR extends coverage to roughly 131 feet when the scene goes fully dark. The dome housing carries IP66, IK10, and NEMA 4X ratings, which clears it for exterior and industrial installs without an add-on enclosure. Power and data ride a single PoE drop, so there's no separate 12V run at the camera.

Key features

  • 8MP Ultra HD resolution for tighter digital zoom and forensic-grade detail
  • VividNight low-light color performance keeps usable color through low-lux scenes
  • Built-in IR to ~131 ft (40 m) for full-darkness coverage

Does this camera require an Alarm.com for Business subscription?
Yes. The Prism series cameras enroll and configure through Alarm.com for Business. AI Deterrence and Remote Video Monitoring features require a supported service plan.
Is the lens varifocal or fixed?
Fixed. The ADC-VC8498P uses a fixed focal length lens for a consistent field of view. If you need a varifocal 8MP dome instead, look at the ADC-VC8498PA.
Can I power the ADC-VC8498P with 12V DC?
No. The ADC-VC8498P is PoE-only. Use a PoE switch or injector that meets IEEE 802.3af Type 1 (PoE Class 0/3). Worst-case draw is 12.4W with the IR illuminator on.
How do I enable two-way audio on this camera?
The camera has a built-in microphone for the listen side. For talk-down, you need an external speaker connected through the ADC-VACC-AO-015 accessory cable, which breaks out the camera's 3.5 mm TRS line-level audio connector.
How far does the IR reach in full darkness?
Up to roughly 131 feet (40 meters) in zero-light conditions, varying with scene reflectivity and lens setting.
Is this camera rated for outdoor and industrial use?
Yes. The dome housing carries IP66, IK10, and NEMA 4X ratings, which cover heavy weather, vandalism resistance, and industrial environments.
Does the ADC-VC8498P support microSD card recording?
Yes. The camera records onboard to microSD via Smart View, and supports SVR for centralized recording. Check Alarm.com's Onboard Recording with Smart View docs for supported cards and resolutions.
