The dual mode detection is what makes this defensible on a life safety system. A gunshot is confirmed only when the sensor sees the infrared muzzle flash and hears the acoustic signature, so a dropped tray, a slammed door or a balloon does not trigger it. Alarm.com rates recognition accuracy at 99.9%, with detection in half a second.
Each sensor covers 2,500 square feet across 180 degrees at up to 40 feet, and no line of sight to the firearm is required, which is what makes a realistic sensor count possible in a school or office floor plan. It detects from a .22 handgun up to semi-automatic and automatic rifles.
Installation is PoE on CAT5E or CAT6, mounted at 8 to 16 feet on a wall or ceiling in a 4.6 inch faceplate footprint. It does not require a security panel, so it can go into a site with no existing alarm system, and where a Qolsys or 2GIG panel is present that panel also goes into local alarm.

System requirements
Requires a PoE switch (802.3af), CAT5E or CAT6 with RJ45, and a low voltage frame or dual gang plate. The Alarm.com Cell Connector (ADC-NK-200T-A-CC) is a required additional install providing cellular backup if the internet fails, and the ADC-SDS1000 handheld tester is required for commissioning and verification. Mount between 8 and 16 feet.
