The Centrios Smart Reader (CER) is the reader and the access controller in a single device. Bluetooth mobile via the Centrios app, HID SEOS card and fob, and PIN through the capacitive keypad, wired to 2 configurable relays and 2 inputs. Runs virtually any opening with electrified hardware, no separate control panel required.

Where this fits

Openings where a wall reader plus a separate access control panel is impractical: gates, glass doors, garages, and any single-door install where a full panel is overkill. The Smart Reader mounts to frame, wall, or J-box (trim plate included) with two screws and a back plate, and drives the strike, mag lock, or auto-operator directly from the unit.

Expansion options

Wire in the Centrios Relay Expansion Board (REB) for two additional relays, two additional inputs, an on-board passage-mode override button, and LED status indicators, or order the CER + REB combo to get both units in one bundle and one install.

Plan requirement

Bluetooth mobile and PIN work on the free tier. Card and fob credentials activate when the site upgrades to the Pro Plan. Schedules, permissions, and audit history run through the Centrios app on any plan.

What credentials work with the Centrios Smart Reader?
Centrios proximity cards (branded and unbranded), Centrios fobs, Bluetooth mobile credentials via the Centrios app, and PIN codes entered on the capacitive keypad.
Does this need a separate controller or panel?
No. The Smart Reader is both the reader and the controller in a single unit. A dedicated 12-24V DC power source is recommended, and the reader wires directly to the electrified hardware at the opening.
Can it drive an auto-operator?
Yes. The second relay is designed for an auto-operator with a configurable delay triggered off the Door Position Switch input, so the operator only fires after a valid unlock and the door is opened.
How does the Request-to-Exit input work?
The REX input triggers the primary relay to release the lock without a credential read, for standard egress-side hardware like motion sensors, push buttons, or exit bars.
Can I install this outdoors?
Yes. The reader is rated for -40Ā°F to 122Ā°F, covering perimeter doors, garages, and gates.
What is the maximum current the relays can switch?
Each of the two relays supports up to 2 amps. Confirm the electrified hardware's inrush current stays inside that spec.
Where does the Smart Reader make sense over a traditional reader/panel combo?
