SKU:
KD-439DEX-6AW-R

The Kidde 439DEX-6AW-R is a 6" explosionproof vibrating fire alarm bell built for Class I, II, and III hazardous locations. Cast aluminum housing and stainless steel gong stand up to the environments where standard notification appliances can't go - fuel processing, grain handling, chemical storage, and other areas where ignition-rated equipment is mandatory.

Built for hazardous location installs

UL and ULC listed for Class I Division 1-2 (Groups B, C, D), Class II Division 1-2 (Groups E, F, G), and Class III Division 1-2. Runs on 24 VDC (20-33 VDC operating range) at just 0.24A, so it fits on existing NAC circuits without recalculating power budgets. Diode polarized for supervised two-wire operation. Indoor rated.

Key features

  • Explosionproof cast aluminum housing with stainless steel gong for corrosion resistance in harsh industrial environments
  • 83 dBA at 10 ft - audible over ambient industrial noise without supplemental appliances in most spaces
  • Low current draw (0.24A) fits existing NAC power budgets on 24 VDC circuits
  • 3/4"-14 NPT conduit entry for rigid conduit connection, standard hazardous location wiring practice
  • Wall or ceiling mount with supplied brackets or rigid conduit support
  • UL and ULC listed (E46293) for code-compliant hazardous location installations

Mounting

Mounts to wall or ceiling with two 3/8" bolts using supplied brackets, or directly via 3/4"-14 NPT rigid conduit entry. No junction box required - the explosionproof housing serves as the enclosure.

What hazardous location classifications does this bell cover?
Class I Division 1-2 (Groups B, C, D), Class II Division 1-2 (Groups E, F, G), and Class III Division 1-2. Suitable for areas with flammable gases, combustible dust, and ignitable fibers.
How much current does this bell draw on the NAC circuit?
0.24A at rated voltage (24 VDC). Operating range is 20-33 VDC. Low enough to fit most existing NAC power budgets without recalculation.
Can this be ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted?
Both. Mount with two 3/8" bolts using the supplied brackets, or connect directly via 3/4"-14 NPT rigid conduit entry. Works in either orientation.
Is this bell rated for outdoor use?
No. The 439DEX series is rated for indoor hazardous locations only. For outdoor hazardous location notification, consult Kidde's weatherproof appliance line.
What is the difference between the 439DEX and the 430D series?
The 439DEX is explosionproof with a sealed cast aluminum housing rated for Division 1 and Division 2 hazardous locations. The 430D is for general hazardous environments but is not explosionproof.
