KD-GCHFWA-S7VMCH

The Genesis GCHFWA-S7VMCH is a high fidelity 520 Hz ceiling speaker-strobe built for mass notification in commercial spaces. It delivers clear, intelligible voice audio at up to 90.8 dBA while providing high-output visual notification at selectable 95, 115, 150, or 177 cd - all in a low-profile package that sits just 1" below the ceiling line.

Built for the commercial installer

The 520 Hz high fidelity speaker meets NFPA 72 requirements for sleeping areas in hotels, dormitories, and residential occupancies when used with approved end-to-end audio hardware. The ALERT marking designates this as a mass notification appliance, keeping it visually distinct from FIRE-marked life safety devices on the same floor. UL 464, UL 1638, UL 1971, and UL 1480 Fifth Edition listed. ULC-S541 compliant. ADA compliant. MEA approved.

Key features

  • Field-configurable output: select 1/4, 1/2, 1, or 2 watt speaker taps and 95/115/150/177 cd strobe levels without removing the device from the ceiling
  • Low-profile design: 30% slimmer than comparable signals - mounts flush to any standard 4" square box with no extension ring
  • 520 Hz high fidelity audio: meets NFPA 72 for sleeping area notification in hotels, dorms, and residential occupancies
  • Settings stay visible after install: candela and wattage selections show through indicator windows on the front of the closed device
  • Precision strobe synchronization: meets UL 1971 requirements, compatible with GSA-CC1S, SIGA-CC2A, EG1M-RM, and other Genesis sync sources
  • 70 VRMS speaker operation: supports long wire runs typical of commercial ceiling-mounted notification circuits

System requirements

Requires connection to a listed fire alarm control panel or mass notification system with 70 VRMS speaker output and 16-33 VDC (or 16-33 VFWR) strobe power. Synchronization requires a compatible sync source module. For sleeping area applications, must be part of an approved end-to-end 520 Hz audio system - third-party audio systems are not UL approved for sleeping rooms.

Does this speaker-strobe meet NFPA 72 for sleeping areas?
Yes. This 520 Hz High Fidelity model meets NFPA 72 low-frequency signaling requirements for sleeping areas when part of an approved end-to-end 520 Hz audio system. Third-party audio is not UL approved for sleeping rooms.
How do I change the candela and wattage settings?
Unlatch and hinge the device down to access the candela and wattage tap switches. Slide to the desired setting. Selections remain visible through indicator windows on the front after reinstallation - no need to reopen.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Fits any standard North American 4-inch square electrical box, 2-1/8" (54 mm) deep. Also compatible with the 960A-4RF round flush box. No extension ring or trim plate required. Suitable for ceiling or wall mounting.
What synchronization modules work with this device?
Compatible with GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, GSA-MCC2A, EG1M-RM, MIRBPS6A, MIRBPS10A, APS6A, APS10A, VS Series, and Fireshield Plus 5 and 10 zone panels. Maximum allowed resistance between any two devices on a sync circuit is 20 Ohms.
What is the difference between ALERT and FIRE markings?
ALERT-marked models are for mass notification applications. FIRE-marked models are for life safety fire alarm. Using the correct marking helps occupants distinguish between notification types in buildings that run both systems.
Can this be wall-mounted instead of ceiling-mounted?
Yes. While designed as a ceiling-mount device, it is UL/ULC listed for both ceiling and wall applications. Mount to a standard 4" square electrical box in either orientation.
