KD-G4HFWN-S2VMA

The Kidde Genesis G4HFWN-S2VMA is a 520 Hz high fidelity wall mount speaker-strobe built for mass notification and alerting applications in commercial sleeping areas. The low-frequency output meets NFPA 72 requirements for newly constructed dormitories, hotels, and assisted living facilities where standard 3 kHz tones fall short. Pair it with a compatible mass notification system or audio source and it drops onto standard 4-inch square boxes with no special hardware.

Built for the commercial installer

Genesis G4 housings install on a universal mounting plate that fits any standard North American 4-inch square box (2-1/8" deep minimum). Wattage and candela settings are field-selectable from switches accessible at the bottom of the unit - no need to pull the device off the wall to reconfigure. Wire connections are room-side for faster termination. The low-profile, tamper-resistant housing is UV-stabilized ABS plastic that won't yellow or fade on long deployments.

Key advantages

  • 520 Hz high fidelity output meets NFPA 72 sleeping area requirements for commercial occupancies
  • Field-selectable candela (13, 26, 65, or 95 cd) and wattage (1/4, 1/2, 1, or 2W) without removing the device
  • Universal mounting plate fits standard 4" square boxes - no proprietary backboxes required
  • Amber lens, no FIRE marking - purpose-built for mass notification and alerting, not fire alarm
  • Synchronizable strobes via GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, and compatible sync modules
  • UL 464, UL 1638, UL 1971, UL 1480, ULC-S541 listed and ADA compliant

System requirements

Requires a 25 VRMS audio source (mass notification system, FACP with audio output, or standalone tone generator) and 16-33 Vdc regulated or FWR power for the strobe circuit. Supports #18 to #12 AWG wiring. Optional EG4B surface mount box available when flush mounting isn't practical.

Is this approved for fire alarm applications?
No. Amber lens models with no FIRE marking are designed for mass notification and alerting applications only. For fire alarm use, select a Genesis model with FIRE marking and a clear or red lens from the same G4 family.
Does this meet NFPA 72 sleeping area requirements?
Yes. The 520 Hz output meets NFPA 72 low-frequency requirements for newly constructed commercial sleeping areas (dormitories, hotels, assisted living) when paired with a compatible audio source and the factory-specified 520 Hz tone.
What candela and wattage settings are available?
Candela: 13, 26, 65, or 95 cd (amber), selectable via switch. Wattage: 1/4, 1/2, 1, or 2W, selectable via switch. Both are field-adjustable without removing the device from the wall.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Standard North American 4" square box, 2-1/8" deep minimum. For surface-mount applications, use the optional EG4B surface mount box.
What synchronization modules are compatible?
GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, GSA-MCC2A, EG1M-RM, and compatible Kidde power supplies with built-in sync output.
Does the speaker need an external audio source?
Yes. This is a speaker (not a self-contained horn) and requires a 25 VRMS audio source - such as a mass notification system, FACP with audio output, or standalone tone generator - to produce the 520 Hz signal.
