The Kidde Genesis G4 High Fidelity wall speaker-strobe combines clear, intelligible voice audio with selectable amber visual notification in a single low-profile wall-mount package. Purpose-built for mass notification systems running on 70V audio circuits, it mounts flush on standard 4-inch square boxes and protrudes just one inch from the wall - keeping hallways and egress paths clear of protruding hardware.

Built for the commercial installer

The G4 High Fidelity line delivers a Speech Transmission Index of 0.81, well above the threshold for "excellent" intelligibility in occupied spaces. That matters when the message has to be understood the first time - evacuation instructions, shelter-in-place directives, or lockdown announcements. The 520 Hz low-frequency tone capability meets NFPA 72 requirements for sleeping areas in hotels, dormitories, and residential occupancies without a separate low-frequency device on the circuit.

The sealed-back 4-inch mylar speaker cone and DC blocking capacitor mean the audio circuit stays supervised and the output stays consistent across the 400-4,000 Hz band. Field-selectable wattage taps (1/4W, 1/2W, 1W, 2W) let you dial in the right SPL for the space without swapping hardware. The amber strobe is independently selectable at 13, 26, 65, or 95 candela via DIP switches visible through the housing window - no disassembly required.

Key features

  • 0.81 STI rating for excellent voice intelligibility: critical for mass notification where the message must be understood on first broadcast
  • 520 Hz low-frequency capable: meets NFPA 72 sleeping area requirements without a dedicated low-frequency appliance
  • Field-selectable wattage (1/4W, 1/2W, 1W, 2W): adjust sound output to the space without removing the device from the wall
  • Selectable amber strobe (13, 26, 65, or 95 cd): configure visual output in the field via DIP switches visible through the housing
  • Low-profile design (1" depth): no visible mounting screws, clean sight line in finished corridors
  • Room-side wiring plate compatible: optional GRSW plate allows pre-wire, continuity check, and snap-in device install on finish day

System requirements

Requires a 70 VRMS audio source and a compatible NAC circuit (16-33 VDC or 16-33 VFWR) for strobe power. Mounts to any standard 4-inch square electrical box (2-1/8" deep minimum). Strobe synchronization requires a compatible Kidde sync module (GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, or equivalent). This model is listed for mass notification applications only and is not approved for fire alarm use.

Is this speaker-strobe approved for fire alarm applications?
No. The G4HFWN-S7VMA is listed for mass notification and emergency communications only. It is not approved for fire alarm use. For fire alarm applications, look for Genesis G4 models without the mass notification designation.
Does this meet NFPA 72 requirements for sleeping areas?
Yes. The High Fidelity speaker is 520 Hz capable. When paired with approved Kidde audio hardware and a 520 Hz tone, it meets NFPA 72 low-frequency signaling requirements for sleeping areas in hotels, dormitories, and residential occupancies.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Standard 4-inch square box, 2-1/8" (54 mm) deep minimum. Optional EG4B (white) or EG4RB (red) surface mount boxes available. G4T trim rings cover oversized openings.
Can I pre-wire before the device arrives?
Yes. The optional GRSW room-side wiring plate mounts to the box first. Pull wire, terminate, and verify continuity before the device ships. On finish day the speaker-strobe snaps into the plate - no additional wiring.
How do I change the candela or wattage settings?
Strobe candela (13/26/65/95 cd) and speaker wattage (1/4W, 1/2W, 1W, 2W) are set via DIP switches accessible through a window in the housing. No disassembly required. Changes take effect immediately.
What sync module does the strobe require?
Compatible Kidde sync sources: GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, GSA-MCC2A, EG1M-RM. Without a sync source the strobe still flashes but won't synchronize with other devices on the circuit.
