KD-GCHFWN-S2VMAH

The Kidde Genesis High Fidelity Ceiling Speaker-Strobe delivers 520 Hz notification for sleeping areas on a single SLC run - no separate speaker amplifier, no extra conduit. Drop it on a standard 4" square or octagonal box, connect two wires, and the panel handles the rest.

Built for the commercial fire installer

NFPA 72 requires a 520 Hz low-frequency tone in sleeping areas for effective occupant waking. The Genesis High Fidelity line meets that requirement at the device level with a square wave output, eliminating the need for a separate low-frequency tone generator upstream. Field-selectable multi-candela amber strobe provides visual notification with output levels set on-site via DIP switches. Listed to UL 1638, UL 464, CSA C22.2 No. 205, ULC-S526, and ULC-S541.

Key features

  • 520 Hz square wave tone meets NFPA 72 sleeping area requirements without an external tone generator
  • Field-selectable multi-candela amber strobe with high cd output - set candela on-site, no re-ordering
  • Four power taps (1/4W, 1/2W, 1W, 2W) on a 25 VRMS audio circuit for flexible sound output
  • Mounts on standard 4" square or octagonal ceiling boxes - no special hardware
  • Synchronizable strobe output for multi-device installations per ADA and code requirements
  • White housing, unmarked - clean appearance for occupied spaces without FIRE/ALERT labeling

System requirements

Connects to any 25 VRMS fire alarm audio circuit via 12-18 AWG wiring. Operating voltage 16-33 VDC (regulated) or 16-33 VFWR for the strobe circuit. Compatible with standard fire alarm control panels providing supervised notification appliance circuits.

Why does this model produce a 520 Hz tone instead of a standard alarm tone?
NFPA 72 (2010+) requires 520 Hz low-frequency signals in sleeping areas for effective waking. Genesis High Fidelity models produce this tone natively - no external low-frequency tone generator needed.
What's the difference between standard and High Fidelity Genesis speaker-strobes?
Standard Genesis models produce a conventional alarm tone. High Fidelity models produce a 520 Hz square wave for sleeping area notification per NFPA 72. Use in dormitories, hotels, assisted living, hospitals, and sleeping occupancies.
Can I adjust the candela output in the field?
Yes. Multi-candela models have field-selectable candela settings adjusted on the device. No need to return or re-order if the AHJ requires a different output level.
Does this require a separate speaker amplifier?
No. Connect directly to a 25 VRMS fire alarm audio circuit. The speaker-strobe draws audio power from the NAC, and you select output with the built-in 1/4W, 1/2W, 1W, or 2W power tap.
What back box does this mount to?
Standard 4" square or octagonal ceiling box. Kidde also offers an optional surface mount kit for exposed installations where a flush ceiling box isn't available.
