The Kidde EVOLVE-MEDIA1 is a single-port media converter module for the EVOLVE Series fire alarm platform, used to bridge network segments between copper and fiber (or between differing physical media) on an EVOLVE panel network. It's a networking accessory, not a stand-alone detection device, and installs into the EVOLVE panel's SFP-style network architecture.
