SKU:
KD-GSA-SD

The GSA-SD SuperDuct is an intelligent, addressable duct smoke detector that shuts down HVAC airflow before smoke circulates through the building's duct system. It carries the same Signature Series photoelectric sensing platform as Kidde's addressable detector line, with environmental compensation that filters out drift and nuisance signals over the life of the unit.

Built for the commercial fire installer

Less than 2 inches deep, the housing fits into tight duct chase clearances without special tooling. The sampling tube installs with or without the cover in place and rotates in 45-degree increments, so alignment with duct airflow doesn't depend on getting the mounting orientation exact on the first try. Removable dust filters and a magnet-activated test switch keep routine maintenance and testing from becoming a two-person job.

Key features

  • Signature Series intelligent sensing: environmental compensation and differential sensing hold sensitivity stable and drift-free over time
  • Wide operating range: -20°F to 158°F (-29°C to 70°C), 100 to 4,000 ft/min air velocity
  • Less than 2" deep housing for tight duct installations
  • Rotating sampling tube, adjustable in 45-degree increments, with or without cover in place
  • Form C auxiliary alarm relay for HVAC shutdown or ancillary equipment control
  • Removable dust filters and magnet-activated test switch simplify field maintenance

System compatibility

Compatible with Kidde VS and VM control systems. UL, ULC, CSFM, FM, and MEA listed. Mounts to a standard North American 1-gang or 4-inch square electrical box.

What does the GSA-SD do?
It's an intelligent addressable duct smoke detector that senses smoke in HVAC ductwork and can trigger HVAC shutdown through its onboard Form C relay before smoke recirculates through the building.
What panels is this compatible with?
Kidde VS and VM control systems.
How deep is the housing and what electrical box does it mount to?
Less than 2 inches deep, mounting to a standard North American 1-gang box or a 4-inch square box, 1-1/2 inches deep, with a 1-gang cover.
Can the sampling tube be adjusted for duct airflow direction after mounting?
Yes. The sampling tube can be installed with or without the cover in place and rotated in 45-degree increments to align with duct airflow.
Is a duct detector a substitute for area smoke detection?
No. Per Kidde's documentation, duct detectors are not a substitute for open-area smoke detection or a building's primary fire detection system.
