The Omada SG3428XMPP is a 28-port Gigabit L2+ managed switch with eight 802.3bt PoE++ ports, sixteen PoE+ ports and a 500 W budget, for racks that feed PTZ cameras, outdoor APs and other high-draw devices alongside standard PoE gear. Four 10G SFP+ slots carry the uplinks.

Built for high-power PoE deployments

Ports 1 to 8 deliver up to 90 W each and ports 9 to 24 deliver up to 30 W, all sharing 500 W. Perpetual PoE keeps cameras powered through a switch reboot and Fast PoE brings them up before the switch finishes booting. It manages in the same Omada site as the gateway and APs, with static routing, 802.1Q VLANs, ACLs and 802.1X for segmented networks, and mounts in a 19-inch rack.

Key features

  • Eight PoE++ ports at up to 90 W for PTZs, outdoor APs and other high-draw devices
  • Sixteen PoE+ ports at up to 30 W with a 500 W total budget
  • Perpetual and Fast PoE: devices stay powered through a switch reboot and power up early on a cold start
  • Four 10G SFP+ slots for uplinks to the core or between buildings
  • L2+ features: static routing, DHCP server, VLANs, ACLs and ERPS ring recovery

System requirements

Centralized management needs an an Omada Cloud-Based Controller, Omada hardware controller or Omada Software Controller; zero-touch provisioning needs the cloud controller. Without a controller the switch runs standalone from its own web interface and CLI. Powered devices must be 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt compliant.

FAQs

Which ports are PoE++ on the SG3428XMPP?
Ports 1 to 8 are 802.3bt PoE++ at up to 90 W each. Ports 9 to 24 are 802.3af/at PoE+ at up to 30 W each.
How do I size the PoE load?
All 24 ports share a 500 W budget. Add up each device's max draw and keep the total under 500 W.
Will devices lose power when the switch reboots?
No. Perpetual PoE keeps power on the ports during a switch reboot, and Fast PoE powers devices on a cold start before the switch finishes booting.
Does it need an Omada controller?
No. It runs standalone from its web interface and CLI. An Omada controller adds centralized management, and the cloud controller adds zero-touch provisioning.
How loud is it?
Three fans. TP-Link lists 44.6 dBA typical at 1 m (80% PoE load, 77°F/25°C) and 48.8 dBA at 1 m at 100% load, 77°F (25°C).
