The Omada SG3428XMP is a 28-port Gigabit L2+ managed switch with 24 PoE+ ports, a 384 W PoE budget and four 10G SFP+ slots, sized for a closet full of cameras, access points and phones with 10G uplinks to match. It manages in the same Omada site as the gateway and APs.

Built for camera and wireless deployments

Every RJ45 port is 802.3af/at PoE+ at up to 30 W. Perpetual PoE keeps cameras powered through a switch reboot and Fast PoE brings them up before the switch finishes booting. 128 Gbps of switching capacity and 10G SFP+ uplinks keep a full PoE load from bottlenecking. Static routing, 802.1Q VLANs, ACLs, 802.1X and IGMP snooping cover segmented camera, voice and guest networks, and the switch mounts in a 19-inch rack.

Key features

  • 384 W across 24 PoE+ ports: up to 30 W per port for PTZs, APs and phones
  • Perpetual and Fast PoE: devices stay powered through a switch reboot and power up early on a cold start
  • Four 10G SFP+ slots for uplinks to the core or between buildings
  • L2+ features: static routing, DHCP server, VLANs, ACLs and ERPS ring recovery
  • Zero-touch provisioning and batch firmware upgrades through the Omada Cloud-Based Controller

System requirements

Centralized management needs an an Omada Cloud-Based Controller, Omada hardware controller or Omada Software Controller; zero-touch provisioning needs the cloud controller. Without a controller the switch runs standalone from its own web interface and CLI. Powered devices must be 802.3af or 802.3at compliant.

FAQs

How many PoE cameras can the SG3428XMP power?
All 24 RJ45 ports are PoE+ at up to 30 W, sharing a 384 W budget. Divide 384 W by each camera's max draw to size the job.
Will cameras lose power when the switch reboots?
No. Perpetual PoE keeps power on the ports during a switch reboot, and Fast PoE powers devices on a cold start before the switch finishes booting.
Does it need an Omada controller?
No. It runs standalone from its web interface and CLI. An Omada controller adds centralized management, and the cloud controller adds zero-touch provisioning.
How loud is it?
Two fans. TP-Link lists 36.9 dBA typical at 1 m (80% PoE load, 77°F/25°C), and fanless operation below 50 W of PoE load.
Does it come with rack ears?
Yes. A rackmount kit is included for a 19-inch rack, along with rubber feet.
