A polycarbonate shield that keeps rain and snow off the anti-masking system on MotionProtect Outdoor. Without it, heavy weather can be read as an attempt to mask the detector.

That is the failure this part exists to prevent. A masking alert at three in the morning because sleet is sitting on the sensor is a call-out that achieves nothing, and enough of them teach a customer to ignore the alert that matters. On any exposed elevation the hood should be on the quote with the detector.
It fits with Dual Lock adhesive tape, so there is no drilling and nothing to compromise the detector's own sealing. Rated -13F to 140F with humidity to 95%.
