SKU:
KD-FX-5RD

The Kidde FX-5RD is a 5-zone conventional fire alarm control panel with an integrated upload/download DACT, built for small-to-medium commercial buildings where straightforward zone-based detection and notification gets the job done without the complexity of an addressable system.

Built for the commercial fire installer

Listed to ANSI/UL 864 10th Edition with ULC-S527, CSFM, and FDNY approvals (NYC Fire Dept. COA 2022-TMCOAP005853-RENL). The panel ships with 5 Class B IDCs and 2 Class B NACs, but pairs of circuits convert to Class A in the field - giving you up to 2 Class A IDCs and 1 Class A NAC without swapping hardware. Front panel programming, one-person walk test, and automatic drift compensation with compatible detectors keep commissioning and service calls efficient.

Key features

  • Integrated DACT with LCD display: upload/download programming, event history, and dual-receiver reporting without an add-on communicator
  • 3.5A total NAC power (2.0A per circuit): drives Genesis-synchronized notification appliances with independent horn control over two wires
  • Class A convertible IDCs and NACs: pair circuits in the field to meet Class A requirements without additional panels
  • Combination Waterflow/Supervisory IDCs: reduces total circuit count on sprinklered buildings
  • Serial annunciator bus: supports remote system indicators, zone indicators, and relay modules up to 1,000 ft on 18 AWG
  • Compatible with third-party IP/Cellular communicators: eliminate POTS lines with UL864-listed IP or cellular paths

System requirements

Requires a dedicated 120 VAC, 15A, 60 Hz branch circuit. Sealed lead-acid batteries up to 24 Ah (10 Ah max inside the cabinet - use an external battery cabinet for larger). Semi-flush mounting available with the F-TRIM35R trim ring (ordered separately).

What's the difference between the FX-5R and FX-5RD?
The FX-5RD includes an integrated upload/download DACT with LCD display for off-premises communication, PC programming, and event history logging. The FX-5R is the same panel without the DACT module.
Can this panel run Class A circuits?
Yes. Pairs of Class B IDCs or NACs convert to single Class A circuits in the field. The FX-5RD supports up to 2 Class A IDCs (from 5 Class B) and 1 Class A NAC (from 2 Class B).
Does the FX-5RD work with IP or cellular communicators?
Yes. Several third-party IP/Cellular communicators are compatibility listed to UL864 with the FX conventional panels. See Kidde compatibility document p/n 3101019-EN for the full list.
What notification appliances are compatible?
The FX-5RD supports Genesis-series notification appliances with precision synchronization and independent horn control over two wires. NACs are individually configurable for Genesis, Continuous, Temporal, Coded, or City Tie output modes.
How many remote annunciators does this panel support?
Up to 2 Remote System Indicators (FSRSI), 2 Remote Zone Indicators (FSRZI-A or FSRZI-SA), and 2 Remote Relay Modules (FSRRM24) on the serial bus, up to 1,000 ft on 18 AWG unshielded cable.
What batteries does this panel require?
Sealed lead-acid batteries up to 24 Ah. The cabinet fits batteries up to 10 Ah internally. For larger capacity, use an external battery cabinet.
