The Kidde FX-5R is a 5-zone conventional fire alarm control panel built for small to mid-size commercial buildings where a non-addressable system meets code. Five Class B IDCs and two Class B NACs handle detection and notification out of the box, and pairs of circuits convert to Class A when the AHJ requires enhanced wiring survivability - no panel swap needed.

Built for the commercial installer

The FX-5R runs on 120VAC with 24VDC regulated auxiliary output and delivers 3.5A total NAC power (2.0A per circuit). That's enough to drive Genesis-series notification appliances with precision synchronization and independent horn silencing over two wires. Front-panel programming, one-person walk test (audible or silent), and automatic drift compensation with compatible Kidde detectors keep commissioning and service calls short. UL 864, ULC-S527, CSFM, and FDNY listed.

Supports optional DACT module for central station monitoring, the full R-Series remote annunciator family (FSRSI, FSRZI-A, FSRZI-SA, FSRRM24), and City Tie/Reverse Polarity modules. Third-party IP and cellular communicators tested and UL 864-listed with FX panels are supported for NFPA 72 (2013) compliance.

Can the Class B circuits be converted to Class A?
Yes. Pairs of IDCs and pairs of NACs convert to single Class A circuits for enhanced wiring survivability. The 5-zone FX-5R supports up to 2 Class A IDCs and 1 Class A NAC, giving you flexibility to meet AHJ requirements without swapping panels.
How many zones does the FX-5R support?
Five initiating device circuits (IDCs). Each IDC is independently configurable for alarm (with or without smoke verification), waterflow, supervisory, monitor, signal silence, drill, or cross-zone operation.
Does the FX-5R work with IP or cellular communicators?
Yes. Third-party IP and cellular communicators that are UL 864-listed and tested with FX Series panels are supported for NFPA 72 (2013) compliance. An optional built-in DACT module is also available for telephone-line central station monitoring.
What notification appliances are compatible?
The FX-5R supports Kidde Genesis-series notification appliances with precision synchronization and optional two-wire horn silencing. NACs are individually configurable for Genesis, Continuous, Temporal, Coded, or City Tie output patterns.
What remote annunciator options are available?
Supports Remote System Indicators (FSRSI), Zone Indicators (FSRZI-A, FSRZI-SA), Relay Modules (FSRRM24), and the FSUIM Graphic Driver. All connect over a serial bus up to 1,000 ft on 18 AWG wire.
