The Kidde FX-278 is a double-action fire alarm pull station built from rugged red Lexan for commercial fire alarm installations. Double-action operation - lift the cover, then pull the handle - satisfies code requirements while preventing false alarms from accidental contact or casual tampering. The handle breaks a glass rod and latches in the alarm position until manually reset with the station key.

UL (UL38, file S218) and FM listed for code-compliant installations. Red Lexan 940 housing with raised white lettering keeps the station visible and legible in corridors, stairwells, and warehouse floors. The break glass rod provides clear visual evidence that the station has been activated, simplifying post-alarm inspection for responding personnel.

Mounting options

Semi-flush mounting uses a standard North American 4" square box with a single gang plaster cover (minimum depth 2-1/4" / 57mm). Surface mounting uses the Kidde 276B-RSB surface back box (sold separately). Replacement glass rods are available as Kidde 276-GLR.
