KD-GCHFWN-S7VMB

The Kidde Genesis GCHFWN-S7VMB is a high fidelity 520 Hz ceiling-mount speaker-strobe built for commercial sleeping areas where NFPA 72 low-frequency signaling is required. The 70V speaker delivers crisp, intelligible voice audio from ¼ to 2 watts, and the blue-lens strobe provides field-selectable multi-candela output for mass notification applications - all in a low-profile package that fits flush on a standard 4-inch square box.

Built for the commercial installer

Mounts to any standard North American 4-inch square electrical box (2-1/8" deep) with no extension ring or trim plate needed. The shallow housing leaves room behind the signal for extra wiring, and #18 to #12 AWG screw terminals handle long runs and existing wire without re-pulls. Wattage and candela settings are accessible by unlatching the cover - no need to remove the device from the box - and switch positions stay visible through indicator windows after the cover is closed.

Key features

  • 520 Hz high fidelity audio: meets NFPA requirements for newly constructed commercial sleeping areas including hotels, dormitories, and residential occupancies
  • Field-selectable output: ¼, ½, 1, or 2 watt speaker taps and multi-candela blue strobe (6/12/31/40 cd) - adjust without removing the device
  • 70V speaker circuit: standard 70V distributed audio for long cable runs in large commercial buildings
  • Low-profile design: 30% slimmer than comparable signals, fits flush on standard 4" square boxes
  • Blue lens for mass notification: differentiates emergency mass notification from fire alarm signaling per NFPA 72 color requirements
  • UL and ULC listed: UL 464, UL 1480, UL 1638, UL 1971, ULC-S541 - approved for ceiling or wall mount, public and private mode

System requirements

Requires a compatible fire alarm control panel or mass notification system with 70 VRMS speaker output and 16-33 VDC (or 16-33 VFWR) strobe power. Strobe synchronization requires a compatible sync module or NAC output (GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, EG1M-RM, or other listed source). Part of the Genesis end-to-end audio system approved for sleeping areas when used with approved audio hardware and factory-supplied 520 Hz tone.

Does this meet NFPA 72 requirements for commercial sleeping areas?
Yes. The 520 Hz tone meets NFPA 72 for newly constructed commercial sleeping areas - hotels, dormitories, barracks, residential board-and-care. Requires approved Genesis audio hardware and factory-supplied 520 Hz tone.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Standard North American 4-inch square electrical box (2-1/8" minimum depth). Also compatible with the 960A-4RF round flush ceiling box. No extension ring, trim plate, or special adapter required.
Can I change wattage and candela after installation?
Yes. Speaker wattage and strobe candela are set via DIP switches. Unlatch the cover to access them - no need to remove the device from the box. Indicator windows on the cover confirm current settings at a glance.
Why a blue lens instead of clear?
Blue lens strobes differentiate mass notification alerts from standard fire alarm signals (clear or amber). NFPA 72 and local codes may require specific lens colors to separate notification types in the same building.
What synchronization modules work with this strobe?
Compatible with Genesis sync sources: GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, SIGA-MCC2A, EG1M-RM, and compatible NAC panel outputs. Without sync, multiple Genesis strobes on the same circuit self-synchronize within 10 ms.
Can this be wall-mounted instead of ceiling-mounted?
Yes. UL listed for both ceiling and wall mounting. For wall mount, the device meets UL 1971 listed candela values for wall-mount applications. Consult the spec sheet for wall-mount candela ratings.
