SKU:
KD-EG4LFVRF

The Kidde Genesis LED EG4LF delivers 520 Hz low frequency audible notification paired with a selectable-candela LED strobe in a single wall-mount appliance. Built for sleeping area compliance under NFPA 72 (2010 and later editions), this horn-strobe lets you cover the low-frequency mandate without adding a second device to the NAC circuit.

Built for the commercial fire installer

Wall mount form factor fits standard single-gang or 4-inch square electrical boxes with no proprietary brackets. Genesis patented low-current technology keeps NAC circuit loading manageable on longer appliance runs, and LED strobe technology eliminates xenon tube failures that generate callbacks. Field-selectable candela (15, 30, 75, 95, 110 cd) and multiple dBA output settings mean one SKU covers a range of application requirements. UL 464 and UL 1971 listed; ULC-S525 and ULC-S526 listed for Canadian installations.

Key features

  • 520 Hz low frequency tone meets NFPA 72 requirements for sleeping area and residential occupancy notification
  • Field-selectable candela: 15, 30, 75, 95, 110 cd - configure on site without returning to the counter
  • Genesis low-current technology reduces NAC circuit loading, allowing more appliances per circuit
  • LED strobe eliminates xenon tube replacements and reduces long-term maintenance costs
  • Synchronizable with Kidde Signal Master or Genesis-compatible sync protocol for code-compliant multi-appliance installations
  • Standard electrical box mounting on single-gang or 4-inch square boxes - no adapters needed

System requirements

Connects to any conventional or addressable FACP NAC circuit providing regulated 12V DC, regulated 24V DC, or full wave rectified (FWR) power within the device's rated operating range. Synchronization across multiple appliances requires a Kidde Signal Master or compatible sync module on the NAC circuit.

What makes this horn-strobe 'low frequency'?
The EG4LF produces a 520 Hz tone instead of the traditional 3100+ Hz. NFPA 72 (2010+) requires 520 Hz notification in sleeping areas because higher frequencies are less effective at waking occupants, particularly those with age-related hearing loss.
What candela settings are available on the EG4LFVRF?
Five field-selectable settings: 15, 30, 75, 95, and 110 cd. Settings are changed via a selector on the device - no special tools required. Select the candela rating that meets the room coverage requirements per NFPA 72 Table 18.5.5.5.4(a).
Does the EG4LF require a special mounting box?
No. The EG4LF mounts directly to a standard single-gang or 4-inch square electrical box. No proprietary back boxes or adapters required.
Can multiple EG4LF horn-strobes be synchronized?
Yes. Strobes synchronize using a Kidde Signal Master module or Genesis-compatible sync protocol on the NAC circuit. Synchronization is required by code when multiple visible notification appliances are within the same field of view.
What FACP compatibility does this horn-strobe require?
Connects to any conventional or addressable FACP NAC circuit providing regulated 12V DC, 24V DC, or full wave rectified (FWR) output within rated voltage range. Not panel-specific.
