This plate is what opens up the rest of the mounting range. It gives compatibility with the CB110 conduit box, the AB110 angled base and the PC110 pendant cap, and from there the combinations cover most real situations: pendant cap plus ceiling plate for a drop, plus wall bracket for a wall, plus corner bracket for a building corner, and plus pole mount for a pole.
At 4.4 inches across and 3.3 oz it adds negligible bulk and weight to the assembly. Order it with the camera rather than discovering on site that the intended mounting hardware will not attach.
