The Omada SG3218XP-M2 is a 16-port 2.5G L2+ managed switch with four 802.3bt PoE++ ports, twelve PoE+ ports and a 240 W budget, built for mixed jobs where a few high-draw devices sit alongside multi-gig APs and cameras. Two 10G SFP+ slots carry the uplink.

Built for mixed multi-gig and high-power jobs

Ports 1 to 4 deliver up to 90 W each for PTZ cameras, outdoor APs and other power-hungry devices, and ports 5 to 16 deliver up to 30 W, all at up to 2.5 Gbps and all sharing 240 W. Perpetual PoE keeps cameras powered through a switch reboot and Fast PoE brings them up before the switch finishes booting. It manages in the same Omada site as the gateway and APs, and mounts in a 19-inch rack.

Key features

  • Four PoE++ ports at up to 90 W for PTZs, outdoor APs and other high-draw devices
  • Twelve PoE+ ports at up to 30 W with a 240 W total budget
  • 2.5G on all 16 RJ45 ports for multi-gig Wi-Fi access points
  • Two 10G SFP+ slots for uplinks to the core or a server
  • Perpetual and Fast PoE: devices stay powered through a switch reboot and power up early on a cold start

System requirements

Centralized management needs an Omada Cloud-Based Controller (firmware 5.15.22 or later), Omada hardware controller or Omada Software Controller (5.15.20 or later); zero-touch provisioning needs the cloud controller. Without a controller the switch runs standalone from its own web interface and CLI. Powered devices must be 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt compliant.

FAQs

Which ports are PoE++ on the SG3218XP-M2?
Ports 1 to 4 are 802.3bt PoE++ at up to 90 W each. Ports 5 to 16 are 802.3af/at PoE+ at up to 30 W each.
How do I size the PoE load?
All 16 ports share a 240 W budget. Add up each device's max draw and keep the total under 240 W.
Will devices lose power when the switch reboots?
No. Perpetual PoE keeps power on the ports during a switch reboot, and Fast PoE powers devices on a cold start before the switch finishes booting.
Does it need an Omada controller?
No. It runs standalone from its web interface and CLI. An Omada controller adds centralized management, and the cloud controller adds zero-touch provisioning.
Does it come with rack ears?
Yes. A rackmount kit is included for a 19-inch rack, along with rubber feet.
