The Omada SG3428XPP-M2 is a 28-port 2.5G L2+ managed switch where all 24 RJ45 ports are 802.3bt PoE++ at up to 90 W, sharing a 770 W budget, built for dense multi-gig AP and high-draw device deployments. Four 10G SFP+ slots carry the uplinks.

Built for dense multi-gig PoE++ deployments

Every RJ45 port delivers up to 90 W and runs up to 2.5 Gbps, so multi-gig APs, PTZ cameras and other heavy loads get power and speed on one cable. Perpetual PoE keeps cameras powered through a switch reboot and Fast PoE brings them up before the switch finishes booting. TP-Link notes the switch is incompatible with passive PoE and other non-standard PoE devices, so check the load before you mount it. It manages in the same Omada site as the gateway and APs, in a 19-inch rack.

Key features

  • 770 W across 24 PoE++ ports: up to 90 W per port for PTZs, outdoor APs and heavy loads
  • 2.5G on every PoE port for multi-gig Wi-Fi access points
  • Perpetual and Fast PoE: devices stay powered through a switch reboot and power up early on a cold start
  • Four 10G SFP+ slots and 200 Gbps switching capacity
  • L2+ features: static routing, DHCP server, VLANs, ACLs and ERPS ring recovery

System requirements

Centralized management needs an Omada Cloud-Based Controller (firmware 5.15.22 or later), Omada hardware controller or Omada Software Controller (5.15.20 or later); zero-touch provisioning needs the cloud controller. Without a controller the switch runs standalone from its own web interface and CLI. Powered devices must be 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt compliant; passive PoE is not supported.

FAQs

How many devices can the SG3428XPP-M2 power?
All 24 ports are PoE++ at up to 90 W, sharing a 770 W budget. Add up each device's max draw and keep the total under 770 W.
Does it support passive PoE?
No. TP-Link states it is incompatible with passive PoE and other non-standard PoE devices. Use 802.3af/at/bt powered devices.
Will devices lose power when the switch reboots?
No. Perpetual PoE keeps power on the ports during a switch reboot, and Fast PoE powers devices on a cold start before the switch finishes booting.
Does it need an Omada controller?
No. It runs standalone from its web interface and CLI. An Omada controller adds centralized management, and the cloud controller adds zero-touch provisioning.
How loud is it?
Three fans. TP-Link lists 52.7 dBA at 1 m at 100% load, 77°F (25°C), and 44.6 dBA typical at 616 W of PoE load. Plan the rack location.
