The Omada ES205GP is a 5-port Gigabit Easy Managed switch with four PoE+ ports and a 65 W budget, sized for a small job with a camera or two and an access point. It adopts into the same Omada site as the gateway and APs, with 802.1Q VLANs to keep camera traffic apart.

Built for small camera and wireless jobs

Four ports deliver 802.3af/at PoE+ at up to 30 W each from the 65 W budget, and the fifth port is data only. Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE keep powered devices up through a switch reboot, and PoE reach extends to 250 m at a reduced 10 Mbps link for a camera past the normal 100 m limit. The fanless metal case sits on a desk or mounts on a wall.

Key features

  • 4 PoE+ ports, 65 W total: 802.3af/at at up to 30 W per port for cameras, APs and phones
  • Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE: devices power up early and stay powered through a switch reboot
  • PoE reach to 250 m: long camera runs at a reduced 10 Mbps link speed
  • PoE Auto Recovery: restarts a frozen powered device in standalone mode, IntelliRecover does it from the controller
  • Fanless metal case: silent in use, desktop or wall mount, with a physical security lock slot

System requirements

Uses the included 53.5V DC external power adapter. Powered devices must be 802.3af or 802.3at compliant. Centralized management needs an Omada Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software Controller on built-in version 6.1.0 or later; zero-touch provisioning needs the cloud controller. Without a controller the switch runs standalone from its web interface.

FAQs

How many ports on the ES205GP have PoE?
Four of the five. They are 802.3af/at PoE+ at up to 30 W per port, sharing a 65 W budget. The fifth port is data only.
Will cameras lose power when the switch reboots?
No. Perpetual PoE keeps power on the PoE ports during a switch reboot, and Fast PoE powers devices on a cold start before the switch finishes booting.
Can it power a camera more than 100 m away?
TP-Link lists PoE transmission up to 250 m. The link speed drops to 10 Mbps at that distance, and actual reach varies with cable quality.
Does it need an Omada controller?
No. It runs standalone from its web interface. A controller adds centralized management, and the cloud controller adds zero-touch provisioning.
Is it loud?
No. It is fanless, so it is silent on a desk or wall.
