Pairs with

The Versa PIR-DUAL is a pet-immune wireless motion detector for professional alarm panels, and one switch sets it to 319.5 MHz or 345 MHz. On one setting it covers Qolsys IQ and GE/Interlogix. On the other it covers Honeywell 5800-series, Resideo and 2GIG. A mixed-panel truck carries one motion detector instead of two.

Built for mixed-panel installers

A dual-element passive infrared sensor watches the room through a multi-zone Fresnel lens, with 40 ft of coverage in the direction the sensor faces and 40 ft at 45 degrees. Pets up to 55 lb do not trip it. A sensitivity jumper selects normal or high, and a digital signal-processing engine confirms real movement first to cut false alarms and callbacks.

The one thing to get right is the order of assembly. The PIR-DUAL reads the frequency switch at power-up, so set it before the battery goes in. To change bands later, take the battery out, move the switch, then put the battery back. A sensor switched while powered looks correct on the bench but will not learn in, and it is the first item in the manual's troubleshooting list for a zone that never reports.

Key features

  • Two frequencies, one SKU: switch ON for 319.5 MHz, OFF for 345 MHz
  • Pet immune to 55 lb: dual-element pyroelectric sensor, mount 7.5 ft or 10 ft above the floor
  • 40 ft coverage: straight ahead and at 45 degrees, through a multi-zone Fresnel lens
  • Selectable sensitivity: J4 jumper, normal (about 3 to 5 steps) or high (about 2 to 4 steps)
  • LED walk-test: lights about 2 seconds per detection for 5 minutes after the cover closes, then turns itself off
  • Cover and wall tamper switches with a supervisory signal and a low-battery report
  • 3+ year battery life: one CR123A 3V lithium battery
  • Flexible mounting: flat wall, corner, or the optional bracket

Mounting notes

Mount indoors on a vertical wall or in a corner, with a clear line of sight across the area you are protecting. Aim it so a likely intruder path crosses the view, since people are detected best moving across the field of view and not straight at the sensor. Keep it away from windows, direct sunlight, heaters and vents, and keep glass out of its view. Walk-test after every install and at least once a year.

System requirements

Set to 319.5 MHz, it enrolls on Qolsys IQ Panel 4 and IQ Panel 2+ with the 319.5 MHz SRF card or a built-in 319.5 MHz radio, and on GE/Interlogix 319.5 MHz panels. Set to 345 MHz, it enrolls on Honeywell VISTA, 2GIG GC2, GC3 and Edge, and on a Resideo PROA7 or PROA7PLUS with the PROTAKEOVER module at rotary position 0.

FAQs

Is the PIR-DUAL pet immune, and up to what weight?
Yes, up to 55 lb. Two pyroelectric elements alternate polarity and an alarm needs a qualified sequence. Mount it 7.5 ft or 10 ft high. If a pet trips it, raise the sensor rather than lowering sensitivity.
Can one motion detector work on both Qolsys and Honeywell panels?
Yes. A switch sets 319.5 MHz for Qolsys and GE/Interlogix, or 345 MHz for Honeywell 5800-series, Resideo and 2GIG. One SKU covers both.
How do I set the PIR-DUAL to 319.5 MHz or 345 MHz?
Set the switch before the battery goes in: ON is 319.5 MHz, OFF is 345 MHz. To change later, remove the battery, move the switch, replace the battery. The sensor reads the switch at power-up.
What does a Qolsys IQ panel need to enroll the PIR-DUAL?
A 319.5 MHz radio, either built in or the SRF daughter card. Set the switch to ON, use Auto Learn Sensor, and pick an interior zone type.
How do I enroll it on a Resideo PROA7 or PROA7PLUS?
Set the switch to OFF for 345 MHz. The panel needs the PROTAKEOVER module on rotary 0 (5800 series). Add a 5800 sensor in Local Programming, trip the sensor, set Loop 1, interior follower.
Does it work as a Honeywell 5800 motion sensor replacement?
Yes. At 345 MHz it enrolls as a standard 5800-series interior motion zone on VISTA, 2GIG GC2, GC3 and Edge, and on a PROA7 with PROTAKEOVER. It is pet immune to 55 lb.
Why will my PIR-DUAL not learn in?
Most often the frequency switch was set with the battery already in. Remove the battery, set the switch, then replace the battery. The sensor is ready about a minute after power-up.
How do I walk-test the PIR-DUAL?
For 5 minutes after the cover closes the LED lights about 2 seconds per detection. Allow about 12 seconds between passes. Reports are held off 3 minutes in normal operation.
What battery does it use and can it be used outdoors?
One CR123A 3V lithium, rated 3+ years with a supervised low-battery report. It is for indoor use only, 32°F to 122°F. Keep it away from windows, sun, heaters and vents.
