SKU:
KD-4MS-7AR

The Kidde Genesis 4MS-7AR is a fixed 15/75 cd synchronized wall strobe in red with a FIRE marking. It delivers consistent, even light distribution across the coverage area using Kidde's FullLight strobe technology, exceeding UL 1971 and ULC S526 requirements for visual notification. At under an inch of protrusion from the wall, it's one of the most compact listed notification appliances available.

Built for the commercial installer

The Genesis strobe mounts directly to any standard one-gang electrical box with no trim plate required. Pre-assembled captive mounting screws and a snap-on cover eliminate loose hardware and speed up install. Two tabs at the top of the signal unlock the cover for wiring access, and once the cover snaps into place, no mounting screws are visible from the front. Optional trim plates accommodate oversized openings on two-gang, four-inch square, octagonal, and European single-gang boxes.

Key features

  • Fixed 15/75 cd output: 15 cd per UL 1971, 75 cd on-axis per UL 1638 and ADA - no field adjustment needed
  • FullLight strobe technology: smooth, even light distribution without the spikes and voids of conventional specular reflectors
  • Synchronized operation: synchronizes within 10 milliseconds using Genesis Signal Master or compatible FACP
  • Ultra-compact form factor: less than one inch of wall protrusion, about the size of a deck of cards
  • Standard one-gang mounting: no special box or trim plate required for flush installation
  • UL 1971, UL 1638, ULC S525, ULC S526 listed: ADA compliant per Code of Federal Regulation Chapter 28 Part 36

Synchronization compatibility

Synchronizes with Kidde VM and VS Series life safety systems, FX Series fire alarm control panels, and compatible synchronization modules including GSA-CC1S, GSA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, GSA-MCC2A, and EG1M-RM. Compatible power supplies include MIRBPS6A, MIRBPS10A, APS6A, and APS10A.

Does this strobe require a Genesis Signal Master for synchronization?
Not necessarily. It synchronizes natively with compatible FACPs (VM, VS, and FX Series). The EG1M Genesis Signal Master is used when the FACP doesn't provide native Genesis synchronization protocol.
What's the difference between the 15 cd and 75 cd ratings?
Both describe the same strobe output measured to different standards. The 15 cd rating is the UL 1971 listed output. The 75 cd on-axis rating is per UL 1638 and ADA requirements, measuring effective candela along the central axis of the strobe.
Can I use this strobe outdoors?
No. The Genesis wall strobe is rated for indoor use only (32°F to 120°F). For outdoor notification, see the Kidde Genesis Outdoor Horns and Strobes series.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Standard one-gang box at 2-1/2" minimum depth, flush mount. Optional trim plates (Model 27193 series) accommodate two-gang, four-inch square, octagonal, and European single-gang boxes.
Is this model field-configurable for different candela settings?
No. The 4MS-7AR is a fixed 15/75 cd model. For field-selectable candela output (15, 30, 75, or 110 cd), look at the multi-cd Genesis wall strobe models in this family.
What wire gauge does this accept?
#18 to #12 AWG (0.75 mm² to 2.5 mm²). Single screw terminal input serves both horn and strobe circuits.
