The Kidde Genesis 4MS-5AR is a 15 cd synchronized wall-mount strobe built for commercial fire alarm notification circuits. It installs directly to any standard one-gang electrical box - no adapter plates, no trim rings - and protrudes less than one inch from the wall for a clean, low-profile finish.

Built for the commercial fire alarm installer

UL 1971 and ULC S526 listed for public-mode visual notification. FullLight strobe technology delivers even light distribution across the full coverage area, eliminating the dark spots common with specular reflectors. Synchronizes within 10 milliseconds on a Genesis Signal Master or compatible Kidde FACP, meeting NFPA 72 and ADA requirements for synchronized visible notification.

FAQs

Does this strobe require a separate sync module?
Only if your panel doesn't support Genesis synchronization natively. Compatible Kidde FACPs (VM/VS Series, FX Series) sync Genesis devices directly on the NAC circuit. For third-party panels, add a Genesis Signal Master to each NAC circuit.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Any standard 1-gang electrical box, flush or surface mount. For surface mounting without an existing box, pair with a Kidde surface-mount gang box (catalog K85001-0495).
Can this strobe be used outdoors?
No. The Genesis wall strobe is UL listed for indoor use only (32°F to 120°F). For outdoor applications, see the Genesis Outdoor Strobes and Horn-Strobes line.
Does this meet ADA visual notification requirements?
Yes. When synchronized via a Genesis Signal Master or compatible FACP, the flash rate and intensity meet ADA and NFPA 72 requirements for public-mode visual notification appliances.
What wire gauge does this accept?
Screw terminals accept #18 to #12 AWG (0.75 mm² to 2.5 mm²). The #12 AWG capacity supports longer wire runs common in commercial fire alarm installations without voltage drop issues.
