The KI-IB4 is the 4-inch version of Kidde's KI Series isolator base, built for jobs where the detector lands on a 4-inch square electrical box instead of a standard 1-gang. It ships with the GSA-TS4 trim skirt so the base finishes clean over the wider box opening.
Why installers use it
- Automatically isolates a shorted section of a Class A loop within 23 msec, then self-restores once the fault clears
- Includes the GSA-TS4 trim skirt to cover the mounting ears and surface imperfections around a 4-inch box
- Wiring terminals stay accessible from the room side after the base is mounted
Where it fits
Use the KI-IB4 wherever a KI Series detector needs Class A isolation and the rough-in is a 4-inch square box — it requires a compatible detector installed to function, and does not support the GSA-LED remote indicator.
