The Kidde 702U is a 6-inch universal detector base with 6 terminals, built for the 700 Series conventional photoelectric smoke detector line. It supports both two-wire (711U) and four-wire (741U) detector heads on a single base SKU, cutting down on inventory and simplifying commercial fire alarm installs.
Built for the commercial installer
The 702U drops into standard electrical boxes and accepts 12-18 AWG field wiring. A built-in continuity switch between terminals 1 and 2 lets you verify the alarm initiating circuit at rough-in before the detector head is installed - no extra test equipment needed. The switch opens automatically when the head snaps in. UL 268, FM, CSFM, and MEA approved for code-compliant commercial and industrial installations.
Key features
- Universal compatibility: supports 711U (two-wire) and 741U (four-wire) detector heads on a single 6-terminal base
- Continuity switch built in: verify circuit integrity at rough-in without the detector head installed
- Non-polarity sensitive: 8.5-33VDC operating range works with virtually any conventional FACP
- Low-profile 6-inch design blends into commercial ceiling tiles
- 12-18 AWG field wiring for standard commercial fire alarm runs
Compatibility
The 702U base pairs with Kidde 711U and 741U conventional photoelectric smoke detector heads. For applications requiring auxiliary relay functionality, see the 702RU base. The 701U 3-terminal base is available for basic 711U two-wire installations.
