The Kidde Genesis LED EGCS ceiling speaker-strobe combines high-fidelity voice notification with field-selectable strobe output in a single low-profile device. At under two inches off the ceiling, it sits nearly flush on standard electrical boxes and keeps hallways and open ceilings looking clean while meeting NFPA 72 notification requirements.
Built for the commercial fire alarm installer
Speaker taps (1/4W, 1/2W, 1W, 2W) and voltage (25VRMS or 70VRMS) are both field-selectable via onboard switches, so one SKU covers a range of coverage zones without stocking multiple models. Strobe candela is also field-selectable at 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd. The unit draws a constant 35 mA on filtered DC regardless of candela setting, which simplifies NAC power budgeting on large loops.
Synchronization uses the same Kidde CC Series protocol and works with Kidde Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Genesis LED strobes are backwards compatible with legacy Xenon Genesis devices on the same NAC circuit, so you can upgrade a floor at a time without rewiring.
Key features
- Field-selectable candela: 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd from a single SKU - no returns for wrong output
- Field-selectable speaker: 25VRMS or 70VRMS operation with four wattage taps (1/4W, 1/2W, 1W, 2W)
- Low-profile design: 6.8" diameter, under 2" depth - sits nearly flush on 2-gang and 4" square boxes
- Constant current draw: 35 mA (DC) across all candela settings simplifies NAC circuit calculations
- Room-side wiring plate included: install and wire without pulling the ceiling tile again
- Backwards compatible: mixes with legacy Xenon Genesis strobes on the same synchronized circuit
- Built-in DC blocking capacitor: enables electrical supervision of the audio distribution circuit
Mounting
Installs on 2-gang or 4-inch square electrical boxes (minimum 1-1/2" deep). Recommended mounting height is 81" AFF per NFPA 72. Wiring uses 12-18 AWG in-out screw terminals. The included GRSW room-side wiring plate allows termination without ceiling access after initial rough-in.
