The KIR-COD drops intelligent carbon monoxide detection onto any Kidde KIR Series SLC loop without new wiring or infrastructure changes. An electrochemical CO sensor handles detection while the on-board microprocessor filters nuisance alarm patterns, keeping false calls off the panel and callbacks out of your schedule.

Rotary addressing makes commissioning fast - set the address on the detector before mounting and move on. The KIR-COD mounts to standard North American 1-gang, 3-1/2" and 4" octagon, and 4" square electrical boxes (1-1/2" deep), plus European BESA boxes. Compatible with the full range of KIR Series bases - standard (KI-SB), relay (KI-RB), isolator (KI-IB), and audible sounder (KI-ABDT, KI-ABLT) - so one detector platform covers standalone CO detection, fault isolation, and localized audible signaling. UL 2075 listed and evaluated to UL 2034 CO alarm sensitivity limits.

System requirements

Requires a Kidde KIR Series Loop Controller. Operates on SLC loop power at 15.20 to 19.95 VDC with minimal current draw (51 µA standby, 68 µA alarm). For CO-specific audible signaling at the detector location, pair with a KI-ABDT or KI-ABLT sounder base and an FX-T3T4 Temporal Pattern Generator to produce the required TC4 tone pattern.

What panel is the KIR-COD compatible with?
The KIR-COD works exclusively with the Kidde KIR Series Loop Controller. It is not compatible with other Kidde fire panels or third-party FACPs. Each KIR loop supports up to 250 addressed devices total.
What mounting bases work with this detector?
Four base families: Standard (KI-SB/KI-SB4), Relay (KI-RB/KI-RB4), Isolator (KI-IB/KI-IB4), and Audible Sounder (KI-ABDT, KI-ABLT). All mount to standard North American electrical boxes and share the same detector twist-lock footprint.
How long does the CO sensor last?
The electrochemical CO sensor has a 10-year life from the date of manufacture. When the sensor reaches end of life, the detector automatically signals a trouble condition to the panel so you can schedule replacement proactively.
Does this detector require a separate power supply?
No. Runs on SLC loop power (15.20-19.95 VDC). Audible sounder bases (KI-ABDT, KI-ABLT) do need a separate 24 VDC supply and FX-T3T4 Temporal Pattern Generator for TC4 tone.
How do I test this detector in the field?
Compatible with Testifire 1000 and Testifire 2000 functional detector testers. The control panel's maintenance program also provides current detector state, sensitivity readings, and diagnostic history via non-volatile memory.
Does the KIR-COD provide audible CO alarm at the detector?
Not on its own. CO alarms report to the panel over SLC. For audible signaling at the detector, pair with a KI-ABDT or KI-ABLT sounder base and FX-T3T4 Temporal Pattern Generator.
