SKU:
KD-KIR-PCD

The Kidde KIR-PCD combines photoelectric smoke and electrochemical CO detection in a single intelligent device, cutting install time and ceiling real estate on commercial fire alarm jobs. Rotary addressing lets you set addresses at the detector - no laptop required on the lift.

Built for the commercial fire alarm installer

Designed for Kidde FX Series intelligent fire alarm control panels, the KIR-PCD supports up to 250 addresses per SLC loop. Automatic environmental compensation adjusts for dust, humidity, and temperature drift, reducing nuisance alarms and callbacks. The 10-year electrochemical CO sensor means fewer service visits over the life of the system. UL 268 and UL 2075 listed, with ULC listing to CAN/ULC-S529 and CAN/CSA 6.19.

Key features

  • Dual-sensor detection: photoelectric smoke and electrochemical CO in one device - fewer ceiling penetrations, lower material cost
  • Rotary addressing: set device addresses mechanically, no programming tool needed at the detector
  • Five sensitivity settings and twenty pre-alarm thresholds configurable from the FACP for application-specific tuning
  • Automatic environmental compensation reduces nuisance alarms from dust, humidity, and temperature changes
  • Self-diagnostics with bicolor LED for quick visual status during walkthroughs
  • 10-year CO sensor life minimizes long-term service cost

System requirements

Requires a Kidde FX Series intelligent fire alarm control panel and a compatible KI Series mounting base (KI-SB standard, KI-IB isolator, KI-RB relay, or audible sounder bases for CO and fire tone patterns). Mounts to standard 4" square, 4" octagon, or 1-gang electrical boxes with 1.5" minimum depth.

What panels is the KIR-PCD compatible with?
Works with Kidde FX Series intelligent fire alarm control panels. The detector communicates over the SLC loop and supports up to 250 addresses per loop.
What mounting bases work with this detector?
KI-SB (standard), KI-SB4 (4-inch w/ trim), KI-IB (isolator), KI-IB4 (isolator w/ trim), KI-RB (relay), KI-RB4 (relay w/ trim), sounder bases KI-ABLT (low freq) and KI-ABDT for CO and fire tones.
How long does the CO sensor last?
The electrochemical CO sensor has a 10-year rated life. No field replacement - swap the full detector head at end of life.
Does it require a programming tool for addressing?
No. The KIR-PCD uses rotary addressing - set the address mechanically on the detector before mounting. No laptop or programming tool needed at the device.
What electrical boxes does it mount to?
Standard 4" square, 4" octagon, 3.5" octagon, or 1-gang electrical boxes with a minimum depth of 1.5" (38mm). Also compatible with European BESA boxes with 60.3mm fixing centers.
What are the UL CO alarm thresholds?
Per UL 2034 / CAN/CSA 6.19: 70 ppm triggers alarm in 60-240 minutes, 150 ppm in 10-50 minutes, 400 ppm in 4-15 minutes. False alarm resistance: no alarm at 30 ppm for 30 days or 70 ppm for 60 minutes.
