SKU:
KD-KIR-OSHCD

The Kidde Intelligent Optica KIR-OSHCD puts three sensing technologies into a single rotary-addressed head: dual-optical photoelectric smoke detection (forward and backward scatter), fixed-temperature heat at 135°F, and electrochemical CO. One device, one SLC address, three layers of protection - and fewer heads on the ceiling means fewer wire runs and faster rough-ins on commercial jobs.

Built for the commercial fire installer

The Optica platform uses dual scatter angles to distinguish real combustion products from nuisance sources like cooking or dust, cutting false alarm callbacks. Loop-powered at 15-32 VDC off the SLC, no aux power supply needed. Rotary address switches (01-159) set directly on the head - no laptop required for addressing. Drift compensation and CleanMe maintenance alerts keep the detector within spec between service visits. UL and ULC listed across all three sensing modes.

Key features

  • Three sensors, one address: photoelectric smoke, 135°F fixed heat, and electrochemical CO in a single detector head
  • Dual-optical Optica sensing reduces nuisance alarms from non-fire aerosols
  • Rotary addressing (01-159) - set at the device, no programming tool needed
  • SLC loop-powered (15-32 VDC) - no auxiliary power runs to the device
  • CleanMe and drift compensation extend service intervals and flag maintenance before trouble
  • Drop-in base compatibility: standard KIB-R base, plus audible (KIB-RA), relay (KIB-RR), and sounder (KIB-RAS/RIS) options

System requirements

Requires a Kidde intelligent FACP with SLC loop capacity. Compatible panels include the FX-350 Series, IFP-300/300ECO, IFP-100/100ECO, IFP-2100/2100ECO, IFP-1010, IFP-2000, and IFP-1000. Mounts on standard North American 4-inch square or single-gang back boxes.

Does this detector require a separate CO detector on the same circuit?
No. The KIR-OSHCD combines smoke, heat, and CO sensing in a single head on one SLC address. It reports each alarm type independently to the FACP - no separate CO device needed.
What Kidde panels is this compatible with?
All current Kidde intelligent FACPs: FX-350 Series, IFP-300/300ECO, IFP-100/100ECO, IFP-2100/2100ECO, IFP-1010, IFP-2000, and IFP-1000.
How does the Optica dual-optical sensing reduce false alarms?
The Optica platform analyzes light scatter at two angles (forward and backward) simultaneously. This dual-angle approach distinguishes real combustion particles from nuisance aerosols like cooking steam or dust, reducing false alarm dispatches.
What bases work with this detector?
Standard KIB-R base for basic mounting. Optional bases add local notification: KIB-RA (audible), KIB-RR (relay output), KIB-RAS (audible sounder), and KIB-RIS (isolator with sounder).
How do I set the SLC address?
Rotary address switches on the detector head. Set to any address from 01-159. No laptop or programming tool required at the device.
What is the operating temperature range?
32°F to 100°F (0°C to 38°C). The CO sensor constrains the upper limit - smoke and heat-only models in the Optica family go up to 122°F (50°C).
