SKU:
KD-EG1ARN

The Genesis LED EG1ARN is a compact wall-mount horn for commercial fire alarm notification circuits. Red housing with no marking, it mounts flush to any standard 1-gang electrical box without a trim ring, projecting just 1-1/8" from the wall. Need to add ALERT marking or switch to white later Quick-swap replacement covers handle it without removing the device or rewiring.

Built for the commercial installer

Field-selectable high or low dB output (up to 92 dBA anechoic) with constant or T3 temporal tone patterns, all configurable via slide switches under the cover without pulling the device off the wall. The Genesis LED control protocol keeps multiple horns synchronized on compatible NAC circuits within NFPA 72 requirements. Draws as little as 13 mA on the low dB setting, keeping power supply and wire gauge requirements down. UL464 and UL1638 listed, FCC approved, CSFM listed.

Key features

  • Compact 1-gang footprint: mounts to standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, or 4-inch square boxes without a trim ring on 1-gang
  • Ultra-slim profile: protrudes just 1-1/8" from the mounting surface for a clean, unobtrusive installation
  • Field-selectable output: high or low dB, constant or T3 temporal - set via slide switches under the cover
  • Low current draw: 13-23 mA on 16-33 VDC, reducing power supply and wire gauge requirements on NAC circuits
  • Quick-swap covers: change marking (ALERT) or color (red/white) without rewiring - covers sold separately
  • Backward compatible: mixes on the same NAC circuit with legacy Xenon-based Genesis notification appliances for easy retrofits

Compatibility

Synchronizes with Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, and Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels via the Genesis LED control protocol. Accepts 12-18 AWG wiring with in/out screw terminals. Optional trim rings (EG1TR red, EG1TW white) available for boxes wider than 3 inches.

What electrical boxes does the Genesis LED EG1ARN fit?
Standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square electrical boxes. No trim ring needed on 1-gang boxes. Optional EG1TR (red) or EG1TW (white) trim ring available for boxes wider than 3 inches.
Can I switch between high and low dB output in the field?
Yes. Slide switches under the cover let you select high or low dB output and constant or T3 temporal tone pattern. No need to remove the device from the wall or the box.
What's the current draw on a NAC circuit?
Low dB draws 13 mA (VDC) / 15 mA (VFWR). High dB draws 23 mA (VDC) / 29 mA (VFWR). Operates on 16-33 VDC or 16-33 VFWR. Low current means more devices per NAC circuit before hitting power supply limits.
Can I change the cover marking or color without rewiring?
Yes. Quick-swap replacement covers are available: EG1ARN-CVR (red, no marking), EG1AWA-CVR (white, ALERT marking), EG1AWN-CVR (white, no marking). Snap off the old cover and snap on the new one - no tools, no rewiring.
Does this horn synchronize with other Genesis devices?
Yes. Synchronizes via Genesis LED control protocol with Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster/Auxiliary PSUs, and Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Also mixes on the same NAC circuit with legacy Xenon-based Genesis appliances.
Is the Genesis LED EG1ARN UL listed?
Yes. Listed to UL464 (audible signal appliances) and UL1638 (visual signaling appliances for general and private premises - series listing). Also FCC approved, ICC listed, and CSFM listed.
