SKU:
KD-EG1AVRN

The Kidde Genesis LED EG1 horn/strobe drops onto a standard single-gang box and sticks out barely an inch from the wall. Field-selectable 15, 30, or 75 cd strobe output and high/low horn dB settings let you configure per-room coverage without stocking multiple SKUs. LED technology pulls significantly less current than legacy Xenon strobes, meaning fewer NAC circuits and power supplies on the job.

Built for the fire alarm installer

The EG1 is backwards compatible with existing Xenon-based Genesis strobes, so you can mix LED and Xenon devices on the same circuit during phased upgrades - no rewiring required. Synchronization works with Kidde CC Series signal modules, booster and auxiliary power supplies, and both intelligent and conventional control panels. UL 1971, UL 1638, and UL 464 listed. ADA compliant per 28 CFR Part 36. CSFM approved.

Key features

  • Single-gang mount, no trim ring required - fits 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square boxes
  • Field-selectable candela: 15, 30, or 75 cd via slide switch - no need to remove the device from the wall
  • High/low horn output: up to 85 dBA reverberant, with constant or T3 temporal coding
  • LED efficiency: 35-55 mA operating current depending on settings - fewer circuits, fewer power supplies
  • Backwards compatible with legacy Xenon Genesis strobes on the same NAC circuit
  • Quick-swap covers with no visible mounting screws for a clean finished look

Wiring and installation

Accepts 12 to 18 AWG wire on screw terminals. Diagnostic test points on the circuit board speed up commissioning. Slide switches for candela, dB, and tone pattern are accessible under the cover without removing the base from the box.

Does the Genesis LED EG1 work with existing Xenon strobes on the same NAC circuit?
Yes. Genesis LED EG1 strobes are backwards compatible with legacy Xenon-based Genesis strobes. You can mix LED and Xenon devices on the same circuit, making phased upgrades practical without rewiring.
How do I change the candela output in the field?
Remove the cover and move the candela slide switch to 15, 30, or 75 cd. The device does not need to come off the wall. The setting is visible through a window on the left side after the cover is replaced.
What electrical boxes does the EG1 fit?
Standard 1-gang (no trim ring needed), 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square boxes. Boxes must be at least 1-1/2 in. (3.81 cm) deep. Boxes wider than 3 in. require the optional EG1T trim ring.
Does the EG1 horn/strobe meet ADA and NFPA 72 requirements?
Yes. All models comply with ADA (28 CFR Part 36). Strobe output meets UL 1971 requirements. T3 temporal coding meets NFPA 72 fire alarm notification requirements.
What synchronization source does the EG1 require?
Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, and Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels provide synchronization. Maximum 20 Ī© wire resistance between any two synchronized devices on the circuit.
