The Kidde KI-SB is the standard mounting base for the entire Kidde intelligent analog detector line. It connects detector heads to the SLC (Signaling Line Circuit) loop on Kidde intelligent fire alarm control panels, with screw-terminal wiring and twist-lock detector mounting that keeps swap-outs fast during service calls.
Built for the commercial fire installer
The B4U base mounts directly to 4" octagonal boxes, 4" square boxes, single-gang boxes, and 3.5" octagonal boxes - no adapters, no special hardware. Once wired to the SLC loop, any Kidde intelligent analog detector head twists on and enrolls through the panel. UL and ULC listed, with CSFM and MEA/NYC approvals for projects that require them.
Key features
- Universal detector compatibility: supports all Kidde intelligent analog heads - photo/heat (V-PHS), photoelectric smoke (V-PS), rate-of-rise heat (V-HRD), and fixed-temperature heat (V-HFD)
- Fits standard electrical boxes - 4" octagonal, 4" square, single-gang, and 3.5" octagonal
- Screw-terminal wiring for clean, reliable SLC loop connections
- Twist-lock mounting for fast detector head installation and swap-outs
- UL, ULC, CSFM, and MEA/NYC listed for code compliance across jurisdictions
System requirements
Requires a Kidde intelligent fire alarm control panel with an SLC loop (FX-64, FX-1000, or FX-2000 series). The base is a passive mounting and wiring connection point - all detection intelligence lives in the detector head. For jobs that need relay output, loop isolation, or sounder functions at the base, see the RB4U, IB4U, and SB4U base variants.
