The KI-HDT is a handheld touchscreen diagnostic tool that lets an installer initialize, test, and troubleshoot a Kidde intelligent detector loop right at the panel or in the field, with live data instead of guesswork. It works before the loop is ever connected to a control panel, so wiring and addressing problems surface during rough-in instead of after startup.
Built for the commercial fire installer
Map Consistency and Contact Analysis testing pinpoint devices causing (or likely to cause) a map fault, and Dirty Level analysis flags optical detectors that need cleaning before they generate a nuisance trouble. Device addressing, single-device diagnostics, and loop history are all handled from the same touchscreen, cutting the number of trips back to the truck for a laptop. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery and USB 2.0/Micro-B ports keep it running and connected for report export.
Key features
- Full loop diagnostics in one handheld unit: initialize, restore, map analysis, dirty level, and single-device testing from a bright touchscreen
- Test before panel connection: verify loop wiring and device addressing during rough-in, independent of the FACP
- Fault isolation tools: Map Consistency and Contact Analysis pinpoint devices causing or likely to cause map faults
- Dirty detector detection: Dirty Level analysis flags optical detectors that need cleaning before they trip a trouble condition
- Field addressing: program or reinitialize device addresses on a loop without a laptop
- Report export: PC-compatible software generates archived reports via USB cable or USB flash drive
System requirements
Connects to Kidde intelligent SLC device loops via the included 10-position terminal block; the 4-position block is required only for Class A wiring. Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (HDT-BATT replacement sold separately), charged over USB 2.0 A-male to Micro-B.
