KD-KC3000-103

The KC3000-103 is a complete end-to-end beam smoke detection system covering 16.5 to 393 feet from a single kit. One transmitter, one receiver, and one control unit ship together, so a large open space gets protected without the ceiling access that spot detectors would demand across the same area.

Built for the commercial fire installer

Atriums, warehouses, gymnasiums, and heritage buildings are exactly where spot detection gets expensive: high ceilings, difficult access, and often a client who does not want devices visible across the ceiling plane. A projected beam covers that span with three small components, and the receiver carries alignment LEDs so one technician can align it alone instead of working a two-person radio job.

The controller front panel reports state at a glance with a three-colour LED scheme and a percentage readout, and mounts remotely up to 330 feet from the receiver so it can live somewhere reachable. Rated IP54 and listed to UL/ULC S3417 and CSFM.

Key features

  • 16.5 to 393 ft (5 to 120 m) range: one kit covers spans that would otherwise need many spot detectors
  • Single-person alignment: alignment LEDs on the receiver remove the second technician from commissioning
  • Remote-mounted controller: up to 330 ft (100 m) of twisted pair between receiver and control unit
  • Clear status indication: red for fire, amber for fault, green for system OK, with a percentage obscuration readout
  • Adjustable alarm threshold: 25% to 60%, so sensitivity can be matched to the environment
  • Separate fire and fault relays: voltage-free changeover contacts rated 2A at 30 VDC
  • IP54 rated for dusty and unconditioned spaces
  • Expandable: one additional KC3000-016 detector pack can be added per control unit

System requirements

Runs on 12 to 36 VDC. Cabling between each receiver and the controller is 18 to 14 AWG single-pair twisted and jacketed, up to 330 feet. Mounting hardware is ordered separately depending on the installation: 3000-201 adjustment bracket, 3000-202 surface mount adapter, 3000-203 four-inch square cover plate, 3000-209 controller backbox, 3000-210 semi-flush trim plate, and 5000-011 surface mount detector back box. Allow more than 20 seconds for the power-down reset.

What comes in the KC3000-103 kit?
One transmitter, one receiver, and one system control unit. That is a complete working beam detection system for a single beam path. Mounting brackets and backboxes are ordered separately.
How far apart can the transmitter and receiver be?
16.5 to 393 feet (5 to 120 m). Separately, the control unit can sit up to 330 feet (100 m) from the receiver, so the controller can be mounted somewhere accessible.
Can one person align the beam?
Yes. The receiver carries alignment LEDs designed for single-person alignment, so commissioning does not need a second technician at the far end.
Can I add a second beam to the same controller?
Yes. Add one KC3000-016 detector pack, which is a matched set of transmitter and receiver heads. Use no more than one additional detector pack per KC3000-103 control unit.
What cable does it need between the receiver and controller?
18 to 14 AWG single-pair twisted and jacketed cable, up to a maximum of 330 feet (100 m).
Is this suitable for dusty or unheated spaces?
It is rated IP54 and runs from -4 to 131 F (-20 to 55 C) at up to 93% RH non-condensing, which covers most warehouses, atriums, and unconditioned industrial spaces.
What mounting accessories are available?
3000-201 adjustment bracket, 3000-202 surface mount adapter, 3000-203 four-inch square cover plate, 3000-209 controller backbox, 3000-210 semi-flush trim plate, 5000-011 surface mount detector back box, and 1000-018 wire cage. All ordered separately.
