SKU:
KD-889D-AW

The 889D-AW is a heavy-duty, diode-polarized vibrating horn built for life safety notification in hazardous (classified) locations, from petrochemical process areas to grain handling facilities. Corrosion-resistant, heat-flowed epoxy finish and an explosionproof enclosure hold up where standard notification appliances can't be installed.

Built for the commercial fire installer

UL/ULC listed for Class I Division 1 and 2 Groups B, C, and D, Class II Division 1 and 2 Groups E, F, and G, and Class III Division 1 and 2 locations. Mounts to any solid surface with two bolts and connects through a 3/4-inch - 14 NPT sealing fitting, so it drops into standard hazardous-location conduit runs. Low current draw keeps NAC circuit loading predictable when stacking multiple units.

Key features

  • Explosionproof rated: Class I Groups B, C, D; Class II Groups E, F, G; Class III, Divisions 1 and 2
  • 20-24 Vdc operation with low current draw for predictable NAC circuit loading
  • Diode polarized for correct supervised NAC wiring
  • 100 dBA output at 10 ft (3 m), A-weighted, in an anechoic chamber
  • Corrosion-resistant epoxy finish for long service life in harsh environments
  • 3/4-inch - 14 NPT sealing fitting for standard hazardous-location conduit connections

System requirements

Wires directly to a 20-24 Vdc notification appliance circuit. Mounts with two bolts (supplied by others) to any solid surface. Before mixing this electromechanical horn with electronic notification devices on the same circuit, check Kidde's Field Notes Bulletin for compatibility guidance.
