SKU:
KD-74339U

The Kidde 74339U is a 24 Vdc explosionproof horn built for hazardous location fire alarm systems. Diode-polarized operation enables selective signaling on shared NAC circuits, and the 100 dBA output at 10 feet cuts through high-noise industrial environments where standard notification appliances fall short.

Built for classified environments

UL and ULC listed for Class I Division 1 and 2 (Groups B, C, D), Class II Division 1 and 2 (Groups E, F, G), and Class III Division 1 and 2. The corrosion-resistant, heat-flowed red epoxy finish holds up in refineries, grain elevators, chemical plants, and other classified locations where conventional horns are not permitted. Low current draw (0.16A) maximizes the number of devices you can run on a single NAC circuit.

Key features

  • Diode-polarized operation for selective signaling on shared NAC circuits
  • 100 dBA output at 10 ft for reliable notification in high-ambient-noise environments
  • Low current draw (0.16A) maximizes device count per NAC circuit
  • 3/4" NPT conduit connection with sealing fitting included
  • Two-bolt mounting with included brackets for up to 3/8" diameter fasteners
  • UL/ULC listed (E14660) for Class I, II, and III hazardous locations

Installation notes

Connects via wire leads through a 3/4"-14 NPT nipple to an explosion-proof conduit outlet box (not supplied). Sealing fitting is included. Mounting brackets accept up to 3/8" diameter fasteners. When planning to use electromechanical devices on the same control equipment with electronic devices (strobes), refer to the Kidde Field Notes Bulletin for compatibility guidance.

What hazardous location classifications does this horn cover?
UL/ULC listed for Class I Division 1 and 2 (Groups B, C, D), Class II Division 1 and 2 (Groups E, F, G), and Class III Division 1 and 2. Suitable for refineries, chemical plants, grain elevators, and similar classified environments.
Can I use selective signaling with this horn?
Yes. The 74339U is diode polarized, allowing selective circuit activation on shared NAC circuits. This lets you activate specific horns without triggering all devices on the same circuit.
What conduit connection does this horn require?
3/4" (19mm) NPT. A sealing fitting is included. You will need a separate explosion-proof conduit outlet box (not supplied by Kidde).
How many horns can I run on a single NAC circuit?
At 0.16A per horn on 24 Vdc, circuit capacity depends on your FACP's NAC output rating. The low current draw maximizes device count per circuit compared to higher-draw alternatives.
Is this horn compatible with standard fire alarm control panels?
Yes. The 74339U connects via wire leads and operates on 24 Vdc from any compatible FACP NAC circuit. Diode-polarized operation requires a panel that supports polarity-based selective signaling.
