The Kidde 302-ET-194 is a rate compensation heat detector rated at 194°F (90°C) for all-weather installations where moisture, dust, or condensation would compromise a standard detector. Its hermetically sealed construction and plastic hex-grip bushing with 1/2" NPT conduit threads let you mount directly to a threaded hub cover or standard outlet box - no special backbox required.
Built for the commercial fire alarm installer
The 302-ET series handles indoor and outdoor applications where a watertight seal is critical. Rate compensation technology offsets the thermal lag inherent in conventional fixed-temperature detectors, improving response time during fast-rising fire conditions without false alarms from normal temperature swings. The detector is self-restoring - once ambient temperature drops below the rated threshold, the contacts open automatically without manual reset. FM and UL listed, MEA accepted.
Key features
- Rate compensation: offsets thermal lag for faster, more accurate response to genuine fire conditions
- All-weather construction: hermetically sealed against moisture, dust, and internal condensation
- Self-restoring: contacts reset automatically when temperature drops below 194°F - no manual reset needed
- 1/2" NPT box mount: plastic hex-grip bushing threads directly into hub covers or standard outlet boxes
- FM & UL listed: approved for commercial fire alarm systems with verified spacing tables
- Wide operating range: functions down to -40°F, suitable for cold storage and exterior installations
System requirements
Normally-open contact design - wires in series on a conventional two-wire initiating circuit with end-of-line resistor. Rated for 6-125 VAC (5A) and 6-25 VDC (1A). Requires a STONCO27 or equivalent weatherproof box for outdoor installations. Maximum ceiling temperature for the 194°F model is 150°F (66°C).
