The KI-HFD is an addressable fixed-temperature heat detector for the Kidde Intelligent Series, built for kitchens, mechanical rooms, and shower rooms where ambient heat and steam rule out smoke detection.
Built for the commercial installer
A twist-and-lock head speeds installation and service, and the detector shares its base address so no separate address is consumed. On-board self-diagnostics store test history for reporting, and a dual-color LED gives an at-a-glance normal/alarm indication from the floor.

Does the KI-HFD work in kitchens and shower rooms?
Yes. As a heat-only detector it ignores steam and cooking aerosols that would false-alarm a smoke detector, while still responding to a 135ĆĀ°F fixed-temperature rise.
What base does the KI-HFD require?
Any B4U-family base: B4U standard, RB4U relay, IB4U isolator, or SB4U audible. The detector shares the base's address, so no extra address is used.
