The K-RLCD-2 is a status-only LCD remote annunciator for Kidde Commercial fire alarm panels. It puts a 4-line, 20-character backlit display anywhere on the building you need eyes on the system - corridors, security desks, mechanical rooms - wired back to the panel over a single RS-485 pair. No common controls means no Reset, Drill, or Silence buttons at this location, which is exactly what you want when the annunciator needs to show status without giving anyone the ability to control the system.

Built for the commercial installer

One annunciator covers the EVOLVE, EVOLVE-ML, FX64, FX1000, VS1, VS4, and VM panel families. Mounts to a standard North American 4-inch square electrical box, or use the optional RA-ENC1/2/3 surface enclosures when there's no recessed box available. Addressing is set via DIP switch - no software, no programming pendant, no laptop required. Communication runs Class B, Redundant Class B, or Class A on RS-485, with maximum wire runs of 4,000 ft over 18-14 AWG twisted pair. UL, ULC, and FM listed.

System requirements

Powered by 24 VDC from the fire alarm control panel or an approved 24 VDC supply (61 mA standby, 90 mA in alarm). Communicates with the FACP on the RS-485 data riser at 9600 to 115200 baud, software-selectable. Compatible panels: FX64, FX1000, VS1, VS4, EVOLVE, EVOLVE-ML, and VM. Optional K-RLED zone expanders can be added for per-zone LED indication (up to 2 expanders per annunciator). FAQs

What panels is the K-RLCD-2 compatible with?
FX64, FX1000, VS1, VS4, EVOLVE, EVOLVE-ML, and VM. The annunciator communicates with the FACP over RS-485 and is addressed via DIP switch.
Does this version have Reset, Drill, or Silence buttons?
No. The K-RLCD-2 is the status-only variant - it has Ack/Silence and Lamp Test buttons only. If you need full common controls (Reset, Drill, Signal Silence, All Call), use the K-RLCD-C-2 instead.
Does it require programming?
No. Addressing is set via DIP switch on the back of the annunciator. There's no software tool, programmer, or pendant required to bring it online.
How far can it be wired from the panel?
Up to 4,000 ft (1,219 m) on 18-14 AWG twisted pair RS-485 cable, six twists per foot minimum. Class B, Redundant Class B, and Class A wiring topologies are all supported.
How is it powered?
24 VDC continuous, drawn from the fire alarm control panel or an approved 24 VDC supply. Standby current is 61 mA, alarm current is 90 mA - factor these into the panel's battery calc.
Can I add per-zone LED indication?
Yes. Up to two K-RLED zone expanders can be daisy-chained to a single K-RLCD-2 for additional zone LEDs. The expanders are sold separately.
What does the K-RLCD-2 mount to?
A standard North American 4-inch square electrical box (recessed). If no box is available, use the optional RA-ENC1, RA-ENC2, or RA-ENC3 surface mount enclosure.
