The SMK Smoke Power Converter Module gives a two-wire conventional smoke circuit its own backup power source when it's tied into a Signature addressable data circuit, so a brownout on the main power supply doesn't take the smoke detectors down with it.

Built for the commercial installer

One SMK is required per system when using Signature UM/GSA-UM or MAB-family modules to connect 2-wire conventional detectors. The module continuously monitors the incoming supply and steps in with regulated operating voltage the moment it senses degraded power, so the conventional smoke loop stays alive through a supply fault. A two-LED status display (green normal, red alarm/active) gives a quick field check without opening a panel.

When is the SMK required?
One SMK is required per system whenever a Signature UM/GSA-UM or MAB-family module connects 2-wire conventional smoke detectors, to back up their operating power.
Does the SMK need its own address?
No. It is a power-backup module for the 2-wire detector circuit, not an addressable device -- it works alongside the addressable UM/MAB module that carries the circuit's address.
